Abstract

1388534 Tyre treads B F GOODRICH CO 22 Aug 1972 [23 Aug 1971] 13948/74 Divided out of 1385790 Heading B7C A tyre 20 includes a tread portion and a sidewall portion 21, the tread portion having a plurality of circumferentially spaced ribs or lugs 23, 24 and a plurality of circumferentially spaced valleys therebetween each of the valleys having a plurality of spaced thin flexible fins 25 extending transversely across the valleys, each of the fins 25 being of uniform width and being disposed at an acute angle relative to that part of the valley surface from which it extends, and adjacent fins 25 defining grooves therebetween. Preferably the fins and the grooves are of equal width and the fin structure may be moulded integral with the tyre or may be cemented or vulcanized to the tyre. The fin structure in the valleys minimizes mud pick up and mud build up. The tyres are particularly suitable for farm, tractor and military vehicles.
