Abstract

1343873 Milling machine details INTERNATIONAL PORTABLE PIPE MILLS Ltd 19 June 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 28559/72 Headings B3B and B3K A milling machine for milling the edges of a plate comprises a spaced pair of milling beads simultaneously movable longitudinally of the machine so as to mill the opposite edges of the plate. The machine has a platform 3, 2, mounted on a tandem axle vehicle 1, and supported by jacks 4, and a plate support table 5 is arranged on the platform. A pair of rails 7, 8, runs along each side 2 of the platform, rail 7 of each pair being transversely adjustable by screwed rods (10), Fig. 10 (not shown). A carriage 15 is supported by wheels 16 on each pair of rails, and side wheels 18, Fig. 4 (not shown), and is adapted to be moved therealong by a motordriven feed-screw 23. A base 24 adjustably mounted on each carriage 15 by a screw 25, carries a milling head 27 including a carbide cutter 29, and a vibration damper 30 which engages the plate. The edges of the plate may be chamfered by lowering wings 2 of the platform, or by shimming the rails.
