On a drop in yarn tension, a switch 3 operates a solenoid 25 to tilt a lever 12 about pivot 13, so that the drive is transmitted from shaft 9 to roller 10' to roller 10, thus reversing the direction of rotation of the package and returning the yarn end to the spinning pot 24. The drive shaft and intermediate rollers may be located within roller 1 (Figs. 2 to 4, not shown).
