Abstract

1278953 Polyesters UNILEVER-EMERY NV 12 Aug 1969 [14 Aug 1968] 40284/69 Heading C3R [Also in Division C5] A thickener for lubricants is made by reacting a polymerized oleic acid with neopentyl glycol and propylene glycol. When the acid value of the ester formed is 11À2 it is heated with the glycidyl ester of a neo-acid in excess of the amount required to react with the free acid contained in the thickener; the excess of the glycidyl ester is then removed from the thickener under vacuum.
