Abstract
1,269,654. Electric couplings. WAGOKONTAKTTECHNIK G.m.b.H. 24 April, 1969 No. 20899/69. Heading H2E. An electrical connector 10 comprises a spring member 12 bent at least at one end through at least 90 degrees and has an aperture 13 through which an electric lead passes, said lead being held by said spring against a contact plate 11. In a first embodiment the plate 11 passes through an aperture in the spring which may be attached to the contact plate 11 by a rivet or screw, or may be clamped between the faces of the doubled over contact plate (19), which may be bent over at either end (Fig. 2, not shown) or the spring may be formed into a locking fork (30) which engages round the plate (29) (Fig. 4, not shown). The connector may have spring connecting means engaging round both ends of the contact plate or may have some other connecting means at one end such as solder sleeve, plug socket or the like (Figs. 2-5, not shown). A housing 16 may be provided, formed of resilient material such that the spring member 12 may be deformed to allow entry of the lead through the aperture 13, the lead being positioned in a notch 15; alternatively there may be openings (44) in the housing (36) such that a tool or slidable button may be used to facilitate insertion of the lead (Fig. 6, not shown). The housing may have a plurality of separate connectors mounted side by side and each connector may have more than one aperture at either end for the connection of a plurality of leads. In a further embodiment the contact plate and sprung member are formed from a single piece of material and bent to form a banana plug, the spring passing through an aperture in the plate (Figs. 10-11, not shown), the pressure contact being provided by the resilience of the material or by a separate spring. In another embodiment the sprung member (71) is U-shaped (Fig. 12, not shown) having apertures (72) in both ends fitting over the contact plate (73) and being supported by a post (74) which may be bent out from the plate (73) itself. In a further embodiment the apertures 112 in the sprung member 111 are W-shaped (Figs. 13-16, not shown), the contact plate (115) being tiltably supported therein by means of a rivet (117) located in a bore in the central part of the M-shaped sprung member (111).
