Abstract

1,242,060. Self-injecting device. ARMOUR PHARMACEUTICAL CO. 6 Aug., 1968 [23 Aug., 1967], No. 38894/67. Heading A5R. An injection device comprises a hypodermic syringe holder 13 movable in or on a guideway 11 mounted on a handle 12, a spring 16 urging holder 13 along the guideway, a detent 26 for holding holder 13 in a retracted position against the spring, a projection 18 extending beyond the end of the guideway, pressure on which releases the detent 26, and means for operating the plunger of the syringe including a trigger 28 which cooperates with a plunger depressing member 33, movement of the trigger towards the handle causing the plunger to be depressed. As described a double pinion 30, 31 transfers movement from a trigger-moved rack 29 to a second rack 32 which carries the plunger depressing member. A spring 34 may augment or replace manual movement of the trigger. Travel of holder 13 and depth of penetration of the syringe needle is determined by an adjustable slotted stop plate 24 held in position by screw 25.
