Abstract

1,240,441. Weatherstrip. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 2 Jan., 1970, No. 148/70. Heading E1J. A weather strip for preventing ingress of water through the gap between the outer panel 14 of a motor vehicle door at the lower edge of the window opening and a vertically sliding window 12 comprises a rigid body portion 13 adapted to be secured to the panel 14, a rigid wiping member 23 extending from the body portion 13 to contact the window 12 and joined to the body portion by a bead 20 of resilient plastics which forms a hinge, and biases the member 23 into contact with the window, a flange 15 of rigid material being provided from the body portion 13 to conceal the member 23 without contacting the window. The strip may be made completely of P.V.C. and formed in a dual extrusion process. The wiping surface of member 23 may be covered with a flock 25. A lip 21 of resilient PVC extends outwardly from the portion 13 into sealing contact with the door panel 11.
