Abstract

1,118,634. Spray-producing coating apparatus. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 5 Aug., 1965 [20 Aug., 1964]. No. 33545/65. Headings B2F and B2L. A spray-producer suitable for coating refrigerator cabinets with paint or lacquer comprises two rotatable spray discs 1, 2 mounted on coaxial supply pipes 13, 10 respectively, the internal surface of the pipe 13 being provided with supports or baffles 12 which break up the uniform flow of the paint &c. and formed with at least one annular recess 18 designed to produce a uniform flow of paint &c. on to the lower surface of the disc 1. The groove may have a flat base and sides or may be curved in cross-section with rounded edges to facilitate the distribution of suspensions. The pipe 13 is tapered and the paint may be supplied directly thereto or via a perforated sleeve 11. An electrostatic field is maintained between the discs and the cabinets and the discs are vertically reciprocated during spraying by a piston and cylinder device. The cabinets 7, Fig. 1 are suspended by runners 8 from a guide rail 6 and are rotated in steps of 90‹ by devices 9 in synchronism with the reciprocation of the discs. The cabinets are also moved around the discs by a conveyor, not shown, in a semi-circle or three-quarters of a circle.
