Abstract

1,109,649. Thermal storage heaters. COMSTOCK & WESTCOTT Inc. 21 July, 1965 [24 Aug., 1964], No.31006/65. Heading F4U. An electric thermal storage space heater comprises one or more heat storage units 11 filled with sodium hydroxide, contained in an enclosure. Air to be heated flows from inlet chamber 31 through duct 28 and passageway 8, across the enclosure under baffle 12, and out through passage 9, duct 29 and an outlet conduit containing a motor driven blower (not shown). Tempering air passes from inlet chamber 31 through communicating duct 36 to mix with the heated air in duct 29, the proportions of heated to tempering air being controlled by motorized valve 33 in inlet chamber 31, under the influence of a thermostat in the outlet conduit. Solenoid operated louvres 48, 49 in the air ducts operate to shut or open them in response to a thermostat in the space to be heated. The heater may be of rectangular or circular cross-section.
