Abstract
1,104,563. Centrifugal casting. BLACK CLAWSON CO. 1 March, 1965 [4 March, 1964], No. 8724/65. Heading B3F. Molten material, such as slag, is introduced into a tubular mould in which metal is caused to assume a uniform thickness by rotation of the mould; it has a melting point lower than that of the metal and a specific gravity no greater and is of sufficient volume to act as a heat sink so that the metal solidifies from its outer surface towards the inner surface, the rotation being maintained until at least the metal solidifies before the slag is removed. The slag may be of fluoride and chloride of barium to remove sulphur from iron as the casting material. The method is said to be applicable with the method described in Specification 1,069,497.
