1,197,966. Bonded non-woven webs. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 Nov., 1968 [5 Dec., 1967], No. 55315/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division D1] A non-woven web has only the surface layers thereof formed of synthetic bicomponent filaments bonded together by means of a potentially adhesive component of the bicomponent filaments. The filaments may have their components in a sheath/core or side-by-side configuration and may be continuous. The filaments may be formed from polyamides or polyesters the filaments can be bonded by heat or chemical treatment. A middle stratum of the web may comprises a carded bath of helically crimped synthetic fibres, e.g. polyester, and/or natural fibres. The middle stratum may also contain some bicomponent fibres.
