Abstract

1,185,115. Facsimile devices. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 2 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967 (2); 30 April, 1968], No. 31622/68. Heading H4F. In a facsimile device including a transparent cylinder 7 around which a sheet of sensitive recording material 5 is secured with its sensitive face directed inwards, scarring of the sheet 5 with light from an image-modulated light source 1 is achieved by means of a reflector 4 rotatable about and movable along the cylinder axis. In the form shown a carriage 9 bearing the reflector 4, lens 3 and synchronous motor 8 to rotate the reflector 4 extends through a longitudinal slit in the cylinder 7 and is mounted on a screw 10 driven by a motor 11. Alternatively the reflector, lens and motor assembly may move in a longitudinal guide within the cylinder 7, pulled by a belt driven by an external motor. In both embodiments the sheet 5 is fed intermittently from a supply roll around the perimeter of the cylinder 7, and may be cut after leaving the cylinder surface. The plane reflector 4 may be replaced by a prism or spherical mirror, or the lens 3 may be mounted so as to focus the light on to the sheet 5 after it has been reflected by the reflector 4. Alternatively the lens 3 and reflector 4 may be replaced by a single concave reflector.
