Abstract

1,144,313. Edge connectors for printed circuit boards. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 July, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 29197/65. Heading H2E. In an array of edge connectors, each of which comprises an insulating body 1 housing in a central recess an array of opposed pairs of contacts (6, 7, Fig. 3, not shown), stops 9 are inserted in selected positions in each connector recess to correspond with slots 10 in an edge of a printed circuit panel 4 and prevent its insertion in the wrong connector. One contact (6) of each pair terminates in a tag 8 and engages circuitry 5 on one face of a panel 4, the other contact (7) of the pair gripping the opposite panel face. The stops 9, which may be resilient, are push-fitted in position, either between opposed pairs of contacts (6, 7) or, alternatively, directly into the connector recesses.
