Abstract

A composition consists of 20-80% weight, polyethylene, and 80-20% linear copolymer of ethylene and 1-butene. The polyethylene has density 0.910-0.925 g./c.c. at 25 DEG C., and preferably is branched; the copolymer is of 90-97% ethylene and 10-3% 1-butene, with density 0.920-0.935 g./c.c. at 25 DEG C. The composition may also comprise 500 p.p.m. 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methyl phenol and 600 p.m.m. erucamide.ALSO:A sheet comprising 20-80% wt polyethylene and 80 - 20% linear copolymer of ethylene and butylene is coated before or after stretching with vinylidene chloride copolymers, nitrocellulose, branched polyethylene chlorinated branded polyethylene, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer with or without wax, polyamides, polyesters, polyethers, cellulose ethers and halo-olefin polymers. The sheets may be treated with an electric discharge and subsequent application of a wetting agent, e.g. alkyl sulphate.
