Abstract

1,016,282. Photographic materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Sept. 18, 1962 [Sept, 19,1961], No. 35571/62 Heading G2C. A light sensitive photographic material comprises a paper or chemically treated paper support and a layer coated thereon containing a watersoluble salt of an acrylic acid/alkyl acrylate copolymer the ratio of acrylic acid to alkyl acrylate being 1 to 1 to 9; the copolymer containing no free carboxyl groups, and in said layer, or in a layer coated thereon, a silver halide alkyl acrylates specified are methyl to decyl acrylate and usually the ammonium salt is used. In the examples a paper support or a partially acetylated paper support of Specification 852,953 is coated with a layer containing gelatin, the copolymer salt and silver halide. Alternatively, copolymer salt layer may be coated before a gelatin-silver halide emulsion layer. An epoxy hardener such as bis(2, 3 epoxy-propoxyethyl) ether may be added to the copolymer salt layer.
