Abstract

1,058,077. Typewriters &c. MITE CORPORATION. Oct. 12, 1965 [Nov. 6, 1964], No. 43332/65. Heading B6F. Type-cylinder construction.-A type-cylinder is formed by a series of strips 92 with a rounded base retained on a fluted shaft 74 for axial sliding movement by a circlip. The rounded part 90 may be integral with the strip 92 or may comprise a rod secured - to the strip. Hard plastic, or metal may be used. The circlip may be accommodated in a central groove, Fig. 1 (not shown), or at each end, Fig. 8 (not shown). Aligning for impression.-The tilting movement afforded by the rounded construction means that the type face 94 is automatically aligned flush with the paper upon hammer impact. A light spring 42, Fig. 1 (not shown), bears in a groove in the type-faces. Type-cylinder machines.-The cylinder is employed for printing on page-width material from data transmitted by teleprinter or computer signals or from data on a record tape. When printing on page-width material the type-cylinder is moved in letter-space direction in addition to the axial selection movement.
