Abstract
1,045,331. Building structures. S. B. ZUKAS. Jan. 6, 1964 [Jan. 10, 1963; March 6, 1963], Nos. 1191/63 and 8996/63. Heading E1V. A building structure comprises parallel rows of columns or piles 10 Fig. 1, supporting a floor formed of a series of centrally apertured cantilever slabs A, engaged over rebated tops of the columns for direct support thereby and spaced from each other along and between the rows, and a series of bridging slabs B spanning the gaps between the adjacent slabs A and framing rectangular openings which are each closed by an infilling slab C, a grouted cavity being formed in the central apertures of the slabs A adjacent the tops of the columns through which reinforcements 20, Fig. 3, from the slab A extend. Further column sections 12, Fig. 3, for supporting upper parts of the structure may be connected to subjacent sections 12 by bars 16 grouted into recesses 14, and collars 26 may be secured to the bars 16. In the assembly of a multistorey structure, during the assembly of an upper floor the slabs A are supported at their corners by removable tie rods Fig. 4 (not shown) connected to the corners of the slabs A of the floor below. Adjacent slabs are connected by scarf joints filled with grout, which may be reinforced.
