An electric power track has a casing comprising sections each consisting of parts 1, 2, 3 bolted together, the sections being connected together end-to-end by formers 11, Fig. 3 (not shown). which have spring clips 12 in V- shaped grooves to support V-section conductors 13 which are engaged by contacts 17 of a current collector. The collector comprises a plate 8 having rollers 7 running in tracks 6 formed in parts 2, 3 and is coupled to a moving carriage by a chain 9 or bar and conductor wires 10, Fig. 2. The spring clips 12 have eyes 14 through which bolts 15 pass to connect pairs of clips at a former, where an expansion gap is left between the conductors, to ensure an uninterrupted flow of current. Each contact 17 is fixed in shoe 16, Fig. 2. which is universally momted in an arm 19; the arm 19 is pivoted at 26 to block 27 pivoted at 28 to the plate 8. A spring 25 biases the contact against the condoctor and a spring 29 biases the contact upwardly and subsequently holds the rollers in engagement with the track. The gap between the track parts 2, 3 may be closed by sealing strips which are moved aside by plate 8. The part 1 of the power track casing is removable for maintainance purposes. The contact units C1, C2, C3, C4 are staggered on plate 8 to assist in self-centring of the collector assembly, so that the units are situated at the corners of plate 8 with units C1, C3 above units C2, C4. The conductors may be of figure-of-eight or of a grooved cross-section, Fig. 4 (not shown), and are preferably strained.
