Abstract

The gas discharge tube has a tubular insulating case and at least two coaxial electrodes. At least two opposite active electrode surfaces are axis symmetrical w.r.t. the electrode axes and parallel to each other. They are greater than the plane section surface perpendicular to the electrode axis, and are pref. conical surfaces, with the cone angle between 0 and 180 deg. A gas filled overvoltage arrester consists of a pipe-shaped insulated housing (1) of glass or ceramic and two hermetically sealed terminals in the form of bowl-shaped metallic electrodes (2, 3) extending into the housing (1).
