Abstract

A false twisting device comprises a twist fixing assembly and a vertically mounted ring and traveller take-up device located at the front face of the twist fixing assembly. The ring of the take-up device is moved up and down by a double acting hydraulic ram to which hydraulic fluid is supplied by a control unit. A smooth movement of the ring is achieved thereby reducing variations in the yarn tension during winding. The arrangement is suitable for taking up knitting yarns of less than 40 den. at speeds of 400-800 m/min.
