Abstract

The data tape (1, 2, 3) consists of three separate components, forming a sandwich construction and has a succession of longitudinal edge perforations (4). The upper section (1) includes an adhesive border (5) encompassing one or two carbon paper insertions (6, 7). The intermediate portion of the tape (2) has dotted regions defining detachable portions. The lower portion forms a backing piece. After printing, the tape is submitted to a paper cutter, which separates the panesl and enables a series of pre-addressed or otherwise printed labels with self-adhesive edges to be produced. These are typically for the purpose of application to envelopes for despatch from a commercial organisation handling a large volume of correspondence.
