Abstract

The process produces repeated large patterns on strip material by means of rotary screen printing presses, of which there are two or more, each with a perforated cylindrical portion producing a part of the pattern selected. Operation of each screen (1, 2, 3) is synchronised with the others, working to a programme so that the successive screens are lowered on to the material (8) for a period sufficient for each printing operation to be completed. The screens are started and stopped when the closed, i.e. non-perforated, zone of the cylinder is lowermost. Where the pattern is of different colours, two screens can be used to produce them. The screens can be perforated in zones extending for variable distances up to three-quarters of the periphery.
