Abstract
A radiation source is vertically adjustable in a vertical channel to whatever level the melt is required to be. The isotope is pref. fitted in to a tube closed at both ends, which acts as a float in either the coolant chamber or in a separate channel. It can be lowered into a shielding block. Method permits remote melt level control in the mould and also elimination of radiation when the isotope is not required.
