EL PROCEDIMIENTO CONSISTE EN HACER REACCIONAR GUANINA CON UN AGENTE CLORANTE EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR DE TRANSFERENCIA DE FASE QUE CONTIENE IONES CLORURO. LA REACCION SE LLEVA A CABO PREFERENTEMENTE EN UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO INERTE POLAR, COMO EL ACETONITRILO Y ENTRE LOS CATALIZADORES DE TRANSFERENCIA DE FASE ADECUADOS SE INCLUYEN LOS CLORUROS DE AMUNIO TETRASUSTITUIDOS O LOS CLORUROS DE FOSFONIO TETRASUSTITUIDOS. COMO AGENTE CLORANTE SE UTILIZA EL OXICLORURO DE FOSFORO. CON ESTE PROCEDIMIENTO SE CONSIGUE LA PRODUCCION A GRAN ESCALA DE 2-AMINO-6-CLOROPURINA, COMPUESTO UTIL COMO INTERMEDIO EN LA PREPARACION DE COMPUESTOS FARMACEUTICOS.
