UN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA PREPARACION DE 1,1-DIOXIDOS DE ACIDOS PENAM-3-CARBOXILICOS. CONSISTE EN SOMETER A OXIDACION A UN COMPUESTO (II) EN UN DISOLVENTE INERTE, CON UN PERMANGANATO METALICO. SI SE DESEA, EL ACIDO OBTENIDO SE TRANSFORMA EN EL HALURO DE ACIDO, LA SAL, EL ESTER O EN LA AMIDA CORRESPONDIENTE; ASI MISMO PUEDE SEPARARSE EL GRUPO PROTECTOR DEL CARBOXI POR HIDROGENACION CATALITICA. SE OBTIENE EL COMPUESTO (I) DONDE R<7 ES EL GRUPO PROTECTOR DEL CARBOXI. EL DISOLVENTE EMPLEADO ES ACUOSO; LA TEMPERATURA OSCILA ENTRE -20-50 C Y SE EMPLEAN DE 2 A 10 EQUIVALENTES MOLARES DE PERMANGANATO.
