  • a medium caliber projectile 1 (caliber between 20 mm and 70 mm) comprises a hollow body 2 comprising at its rear part a base 3.

  • the hollow body 2 comprises a cavity 2a substantially cylindrical opening onto the front of the body 2, cavity which contains a cup 5 of corresponding shape.

  • the bucket 5 comprises sectors 5a independent of each other and contiguous along their edges parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the projectile 1. There are three sectors here.

  • the sectors 5a are joined around a polygonal head 6a of a screw 6, coaxial with the projectile 1, so as to form a recess of the screw 6 relative to the cup 5.
  • the screw 6 forms a means 6 for securing the bucket 5 with the warhead 4.
  • the threaded part of the screw 6 makes it possible to screw the warhead 4 until its rim 4a bears against the front edge of the body 2 .
  • each sector 5a of bucket 5 and body 2 of projectile 1 at least one key 7 is engaged in a housing 14 of corresponding shape (housing shared between the body 2 and the sector 5a considered).
  • the keys 7 make it possible to link the cup 5 and the body 2 in rotation around the longitudinal axis X of the projectile 1.
  • each key 7 is oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the projectile 1 so as not to hinder the ejection by sliding of the bucket 5 out of the body 2.
  • the bucket 5 is secured to the body 2 by means of screws 8 arranged radially to the longitudinal axis X of the projectile.
  • the screws 8 form a securing means and penetrate into the body 2 as well as into the piston 5b while crossing the sectors 5a, thus linking each sector 5a to the piston 5b.
  • the warhead 4 is fixed in a robust manner to the body 2 by means of the bucket 5 which transfers any shock stresses undergone by the warhead 4 towards the inside of the projectile, in areas where the connection with the body is less vulnerable.
  • the screws 8 constitute weakened connection means because they comprise a shear weakening zone 8a located at the junction between the bucket 5 and the body 2 giving a shearable nature to the connection means 8 which is not disturbed by shocks radial on the ogive 4 for example.
  • the embrittlement zone comprises for example a calibrated section 8a in order to break consecutively upon reaching a stress threshold obtained by the thrust of the piston 5b undergoing the pressure of the gases resulting from the initiation of a pyrotechnic charge 10, charge located behind the piston 5b, in a chamber 3a at the base 3 of the projectile 1.
  • the piston 5b comprises a shoulder 5c on which the rear ends of the sectors 5a rest, this which allows it, once the screws 8 have been broken, to push the sectors 5a, the sub-projectiles 11 and the warhead 4 forward of the body 2 in the direction of the trajectory of the projectile 1 as shown in figure 5 .
  • the sub-projectiles 11 are also released and are distributed in the surrounding space under the effect of centrifugal forces in order to bring their kinetic effects to a target not shown, kinetic effects due to the speed of the projectile 1 added to the projection speed provided by the thrust of the piston 5b.
  • the sub-projectiles 11 are represented before their dispersion.
  • the weakened connection means 8 are still screws 8 but they are oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the projectile 1 and secure a rear part of the body 2 to a rear face of the piston 5b.
  • the weakened connection means will therefore be sized to break consecutively to a tensile stress generated by the pressure of the gases from the load 10.
  • the sectors 5a of the bucket 5 are fixed to the piston by pins 12.
  • the pins 12 are cylindrical and do not have no protuberance at their end, which allows easy detachment of the sectors 5a relative to the piston 5 once the cup 5 has been ejected from the body 2 as at the figure 5 .
  • the sliding fit of the bucket 5 relative to the body 2 prevents any detachment of the sectors relative to the piston 5b. A monolithic assembly is thus obtained connecting the warhead 4 to the body of the projectile in a robust manner.
  • the weakened connecting means 8 comprises a sleeve 8 screwed into a bore in the rear face of the piston 5b and which comprises a shoulder arranged in such a way that a part of the body 2 is clamped between the shoulder 8b and the rear face of the piston 5b, thus securing cup 5 with body 2.
  • the sleeve 8 has a zone weakened and calibrated to rupture in tension so that the bucket 5 can be ejected once the threshold pressure has been reached in the chamber 3a.
