Claims (13)

Steam ironing apparatus comprising a pressurised steam generator (102) and an iron (1) comprising an ironing soleplate (2) covered by a body (4) in which a steam distribution circuit is provided which conveys the flow of steam produced by the steam generator (102) to steam outlet holes (20) of the soleplate (2), characterised in that the steam distribution circuit comprises at least one expansion chamber (11, 13) comprising studs (58, 65) protruding from two facing surfaces.
  2. Ironing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the expansion chamber (11, 13) comprises a plurality of protruding studs (58, 65) arranged opposite each other.
  3. Apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 2, wherein the protruding studs (58, 65) extend over at least one third of the distance separating the two surfaces.
  4. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said protruding studs (58, 65) have a rounded contour, the stud contour having a minimum radius of curvature of 1.5 mm.
  5. Apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the studs (58, 65) have a frustoconical or cylindrical revolution shape.
  6. Steam ironing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 5, wherein an intermediate layer (d) lacking any obstacles is provided between the studs (58, 65) protruding from the two surfaces.
  7. Ironing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the intermediate layer (d) is flat and has a thickness of between 2 and 4 mm, the studs (58, 65) of the two facing surfaces extending to the edge of the intermediate layer (d).
  8. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 7, wherein the body (4) comprises a cast (5) closed in its upper part by a cover (6) and the expansion chamber (11, 13) comprises protruding studs (58) supported by the cast (5) and protruding studs (65) supported by the cover (6).
  9. Ironing apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said studs (58, 65) are moulded in the cast (5) and on the closing cover (6).
  10. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 8 to 9, wherein the expansion chamber (11, 13) is partially provided in a cavity (61, 63) of the cover (6).
  11. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 8 to 10, wherein the cast (5) contains a heating resistor (7).
  12. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 8 to 11, wherein the steam distribution circuit is supplied with steam through a steam inlet port (62) provided in the cover (6) and the expansion chamber (11, 13) locally has a maximum cross sectional area which is more than thirty times greater than the cross sectional area of the steam inlet port (62) and more than ten times greater than the cumulative cross sectional area of steam distribution ports (50, 54) arranged downstream of the expansion chamber (11, 13).
  13. Ironing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 12, wherein the steam distribution circuit comprises a first expansion chamber (11) arranged upstream of a superheating channel (12) and a second expansion chamber (13) arranged downstream of the superheating channel (12), the superheating channel (12) having a reduced cross sectional area in comparison with the cross sectional area of the first and second expansion chambers (11, 13).
