Definitions
- the invention relates to a security paper for the production of security and value documents, which is equipped with a watermark.
- the invention also relates to a set of elements for a paper screen, a paper screen and a method for producing such a security paper.
- BESTATIGUNGSKOPIE Traditional watermarks, for example, show portraits of people, animals or buildings. These motives are readily discernible in review and only allow for easy security of a security paper equipped with such watermarks.
- the present invention seeks to provide a security paper with watermarks of the type mentioned, which avoids the disadvantages of the prior art.
- a security paper with watermarks is to be specified, which has an increased security against counterfeiting and, ideally, additionally an increased attention and recognition value compared with conventional designs.
- a generic security paper for the production of security and value documents contains a watermark which represents a motif and which contains two watermark areas arranged on the security paper at a distance.
- the motif represented by the watermark is composed of two motif parts which complement one another in overall information, wherein each of the two watermark regions represents only one motif part of the motif of the watermark.
- the security paper is foldable along a fold line lying between the two watermark areas, so that when folded the two sersch Jardine superimposed and the composite of the two subject motif motif of the watermark is visible in transmitted light.
- each of the watermark areas of the security paper thus represents only an incomplete motif part of a uniform overall motif. Only by folding the security paper, the watermark areas come to rest on each other and the incomplete motifs complement each other in transmitted light to form the complete overall motif. By forming the overall motif in the folding, the watermark is verifiable in a simple, easily comprehensible way for everyone. Also, the emergence of a meaningful overall motive of seemingly meaningless subject parts is visually attractive to the user and has a high attention and recognition value.
- the motif of the watermark is composed of two motif parts which complement each other in the folded state of the security paper without overlapping to the overall information.
- the illustrated sub-motifs are each formed by thin areas with locally reduced paper thickness or by thick areas with locally increased paper thickness. Thick areas can be represented for example in two-level watermark in the form of an embossing or a lower-lying form in the context of a perforated injection molding insert (dark E-type pe).
- the freedom from overlapping of the two motif parts then means that the thin spots or thick areas of the one watermark area in the folded state each lie on undiluted or thickened areas of the other watermark area, ie, the thin areas or thick areas of the two watermark areas forming the motif do not overlap ,
- a good separability of the overall motive in partial motives a good visibility of the Total motive in the folded state and a uniform brightness of the overall motive achieved.
- the paper thickness is advantageously reduced by 10% to 70% compared with the vellum area, in the thick places the paper thickness is preferably increased by 10% to 40% relative to the surroundings.
- the division into subject parts is advantageously carried out according to the criterion that the information shown in the motif of the watermark is not completely or not at all recognizable by the information presented in a single motif part.
- the motif of a number or a letter can be divided into an upper and a lower half, so that from only one motif part in the form of the upper or lower half of the illustrated information of the numeral or the letter is not recognizable.
- numerals and letters as examples of alphanumeric characters, alphanumeric character strings or portraits, for example of persons, animals, buildings, landscapes or the like, can also be selected as the motif of the watermark.
- the security paper in a thin region surrounding at least one of the watermark regions has a paper thickness which is less than the paper thickness outside the thin region.
- the paper thickness in the thin region is preferably reduced by up to 10%, by up to 20% or by up to 35% compared to the paper thickness outside the thin region.
- each of the two watermark areas may include at least one through opening for forming another motif which is visible in transmitted light upon folding of the security paper along the fold line.
- the through opening can be formed as a surface-wide opening on the security paper or as a perforation, wherein a perforation is understood to mean a non-circular, continuous opening with a diameter of up to 1 mm.
- the diameter of the perforations is between 10 microns to 750 microns, more preferably between 50 microns and 250 microns.
- Flatly extended openings can also be significantly larger than 1 mm 2 and have any desired shapes.
- the through openings can be made in particular by a punching, by laser cutting or by using a so-called hole type as a molding element for the paper wire.
- Hole-type moldings largely correspond in their design to the electrotypes, but protrude significantly higher beyond the papermaking screen, so that not only less but practically no fibers are deposited in their area and a paper hole is produced in the paper production.
- the further motif can complement or enhance the watermark motif.
- the watermark and the continuous openings can also represent the same motif in different representation (multi-level relief or arrangement of through openings).
- the invention also includes an elementary set for a papermaking screen for producing a security paper of the type described above, comprising two mold elements having a underside to be connected to the papermaking screen and an upper side opposite the underside, each in the form of one of the motifs of the motif to be created Watermark are formed.
- an embossing of the support screen, on which the form elements are mounted omitted.
- each of the mold elements is formed from a metal plate which is preferably welded to the paper screen without an additional plastic coating. In some designs, however, it may also be advisable to coat the underside of the mold elements with plastic.
- At least one molding element advantageously has a continuous opening from the top to the bottom.
- At least one molding element is an electrotype, in particular at least one molding element is formed by an electric type in the form of a frame with a recess located within the frame, or by two nested frames which are separated by a gap of substantially constant width ,
- a shaped element contains a continuous opening from the top to the bottom
- the finished paper has, in the transmitted light at the location of the continuous opening of the molded element, a dark area surrounded by a light area passing through the frame of the opening of the molded element caused.
- a form element is also called a dark type.
- the molded element with the through hole can for example, be designed as welded on the paper screen metal body.
- At least one form element of the feature set can also represent a multi-level relief.
- the mold element in this case is preferably formed by an injection-molded perforated watermark insert.
- the invention further includes a paper screen for producing a security paper of the type mentioned above, which has a set of elements of the type described, or in which the motif parts of the watermark areas are distributed over different areas of the embossing of the paper screen.
- a paper screen for producing a security paper of the type mentioned above, which has a set of elements of the type described, or in which the motif parts of the watermark areas are distributed over different areas of the embossing of the paper screen.
- an embossed paper screen can be combined with a form element to form the desired motif parts. Even with the embossing of a paper strainer, the watermark can of course be formed in two or more stages.
- the invention also includes a method for producing a security paper with a watermark of the type described, in which a motif to be displayed by the watermark is specified, the motif of the watermark is divided into two motif parts which complement one another in overall information, the watermark is divided into two watermark regions and assigning only one of the two watermark areas to a subject to be displayed by the watermark area, a papermaking screen is provided for producing the security paper, the papermaking screen is set up to produce security paper with the watermark areas to be spaced on the security paper, and by means of the papermaking screen a security paper is created with the watermark areas spaced on the security paper, along with the created security paper a fold line lying between the two watermark areas is foldable such that in the folded state, the two watermark areas are superimposed and the motif of the watermark composed of the two associated motif parts can be recognized by transmitted light.
- the motif of the watermark is divided into two overlap-free motif parts.
- the division is expediently carried out as irregularly as possible so that the overall information of the motif in the individual motif parts is not recognizable.
- a paper screen made of metal, plastic or plastic components is provided.
- the paper screen is thereby set up to produce security paper with the watermark areas in such a way that it is provided with an article element set of the type mentioned above. This is especially true in the large-scale application of molding Elements on a papermaker without injury to the paper strainer, especially in paper production on wire screening machines of particular advantage.
- the paper screen can be provided with an embossment in which the motif parts of the watermark regions to be produced are distributed in different regions of the embossing of the paper screen.
- a sealing compound is applied to the paper screen in such a way that subregions of the paper screen in the form of the motif parts of the watermark regions to be produced later in the production of the security paper are closed by the sealing compound.
- a paper screen is provided with a support screen, the support screen is provided with two perforated Wasser Lawrenceblechen, and the support screen and the watermark plates are embossed together in the form of the motif parts of the water drawing areas to be generated.
- At least one through opening may be formed in each of the watermark areas, wherein the opening is preferably formed by punching, by laser cutting, or by using a hole type as a molding element for the paper screen.
- a paper screen with a screen fabric with at least one system of interwoven, longitudinally extending warp threads and weft threads extending transversely thereto, wherein at least one of the thread systems consists of plastic.
- the screen fabric is then, for example, in one or more sections with a multi-level Relief provided in the form of the motif or parts of the motif to be generated watermark.
- the watermark contains more than two watermark regions, wherein the motif to be represented by the watermark is divided into a number of motif parts corresponding to the number of watermark regions.
- Each watermark area represents a respective motif part.
- the described watermark regions can also be combined with conventional watermarks that are not disassembled in their motif parts. They can also be combined with features applied by refinement and / or pressure.
- the design of the inventive watermark regions and the conventional watermarks or the other applied features is advantageously matched to one another. It is further possible to arrange only one of the watermark areas in the security paper itself and to provide the associated second watermark area on a separate verification element. In this case, the first watermark area of the security paper can be verified by applying the verification element to the second watermark area, without requiring folding of the security paper.

- the preparation of one or more mold elements and its or their attachment can be omitted on the paper wire.
- a mold element 70, 80 is combined with an embossment in the paper screen 50 to form the desired motif parts.
- FIG. 6 shows a cross section of a banknote 10 according to a further exemplary embodiment with watermark regions 14, 24 and motif parts 16, 26.
- the paper thickness 94 in each case in a thin region 96 surrounding the watermark regions 16, 26, which is shown hatched for illustration in FIG. 6, is smaller than the paper thickness 92 of the banknote 10 outside the thin region.
- the paper thickness 94 in the thin region may be reduced by about 25% compared to the paper thickness 92 outside of the thin region 96.
- the brightness of the watermark regions 14, 24 in the transmitted light decreases with increasing paper thickness 94 of the banknote 10 at the location of the watermark regions 14, 24.
- the brightness of each watermark region 14 therefore becomes , 24 and thus the conspicuousness of the illustrated subjects, especially in the folded state of the banknote, compared to a grade without thin area 96 increased.
- Thin areas 96 in the vicinity of the watermark areas 14, 24 can also be used to allow a higher number of superimposed watermark areas with the same paper thickness of the watermark area stack.
- a banknote 10 with the watermark 30 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 can be produced, for example, by a method in which a motif 28 to be represented by the watermark 30; 36 is given and the motif 28; 36 of the watermark 30 in two mutually complementary to a total information subject parts 16, 26; 32, 34 is divided.
- the watermark 30 is split into two watermark regions 14, 24, and each of the two watermark regions 14, 24 becomes only one of the watermark regions 14, 24 to be displayed on the motif part 16, 26; 32, 34 assigned.
- a paper screen 50 for producing the banknote 10 is provided and the paper screen 50 is set up to produce security paper with the watermark areas 14, 24 to be arranged on the security paper, for example by forming two correspondingly shaped form elements 70; 80 are applied to the paper strainer.
- the banknote 10 with the watermark 30 and the watermark regions 14, 24 spaced on the banknote 10 is then produced, the banknote 10 being foldable along the fold line 20 lying between the two watermark regions 14, 24 such that in the folded state the two watermark regions 14, 24 lie one above the other and that from the two associated motif parts 16, 26; 32, 34 composite motif 28, 36 of the watermark 30 in the transmitted light can be seen.
