- a tiltable segment abrasive pad for a belt sander Such a Segmentschleifkissen with eg from the WO-A-02/02270 known.
- the current state of the art includes the knowledge of devices with belt grinding units arranged obliquely to the feed direction. From the industry are known top / bottom grinding systems with belt sanding units, which are arranged slightly inclined to the direction of passage. The two required for the contact of the workpiece to the grinding belt Anpressbalken, the so-called. Schleifkissen16, 17, are arranged 90 ° to the workpiece. This 90 ° arrangement of the sanding pad in the inclined sanding belt requires a lot of space-demanding sanding units, but guarantees the straight passage of the sanding material even when interrupting the workpiece support, as it is unavoidable for grinding from below.
- oblique grinding belts have the advantage over those which work in a straight feed direction that their possible defects (eg scattering defects, breakouts, contamination with glue, dust, etc.) do not occur in one Straight line, but laterally offset on the workpiece repeat. As a result, they appear much less intense and less noticeable.
- the oblique sanding marks themselves do not interfere with homogeneous workpieces or those that are further treated after sanding (laminated, overmoulded, etc.), but, of course, on structured surfaces (such as, for example, woodgrained wood).
- the grinding with slanted bands is therefore hardly common.
- An exception are the above-mentioned top / bottom grinding machines.
- lacquering and intermediate lacquer sanding are mainly used in medium-sized craft businesses. These have special requirements: In most cases, both wood panels (solid or veneered) and painted surfaces should be sanded with the same machine. While the former require straight-cut, the latter gives the latter the advantages of surface finish for the latter. The grinding units must therefore be convertible.
- the inclination of the grinding units and the adjustment of the segments 12 of the segment grinding pad 13 should be able to be infinitely variable in the angle of rotation.
- the grinding machine should be compact. This requirement is met by rotation (with support on both sides) of the entire aggregate body (including belt tension, oscillation, safety and suction), including the grinding pad 13. Preferably, however, not the drive motor 18. From various possible pivot points is in the interest of a compact Construction of that selected the vertical center axis of the drive belt 19.

The current state of the art includes the knowledge of devices with belt grinding units arranged obliquely to the feed direction.
It is also known to those skilled in the art that in the feed direction oblique grinding belts have the advantage over those which work in a straight feed direction that their possible defects (eg scattering defects, breakouts, contamination with glue, dust, etc.) do not occur in one Straight line, but laterally offset on the workpiece repeat. As a result, they appear much less intense and less noticeable. The oblique sanding marks themselves do not interfere with homogeneous workpieces or those that are further treated after sanding (laminated, overmoulded, etc.), but, of course, on structured surfaces (such as, for example, woodgrained wood). The grinding with slanted bands is therefore hardly common. An exception are the above-mentioned top / bottom grinding machines. But even with these applications is limited to so-called. MDF boards with high demands on the surface quality. No corresponding demand for the flawlessness of their surface, however, z. As chipboard (these are usually subsequently veneered), while the veneer or solid wood, as mentioned, usually tolerates no oblique grinding marks. An advantage of oblique abrasive belts, however, would be the intermediate lacquer finish. For this hitherto unknown application, however, further requirements should be taken into account: For example, the inclined abrasive aggregates must be combined with low grinding velocities (ie about 50% or less of the standard groundwood speed) and / or a specially subtle sanding pad because of the thin varnish layer. The corresponding devices -. As the speed control by means of frequency converter and the use of electronically controlled so-called. Segmentschleifkissen - are known, in practice, however, not yet their simultaneous use with slanted grinding units.
In contrast to industrial panel production (eg MDF panels), lacquering and intermediate lacquer sanding are mainly used in medium-sized craft businesses. These have special requirements: In most cases, both wood panels (solid or veneered) and painted surfaces should be sanded with the same machine. While the former require straight-cut, the latter gives the latter the advantages of surface finish for the latter. The grinding units must therefore be convertible. If the sanding pad itself is arranged obliquely - and this is a segment sanding pad - an automatic change from straight to oblique (and vice versa) of the
Since not all surfaces, types of lacquer etc. have the same properties, the inclination of the grinding units and the adjustment of the
Another requirement of medium-sized companies is that the grinding machine should be compact. This requirement is met by rotation (with support on both sides) of the entire aggregate body (including belt tension, oscillation, safety and suction), including the
