Abstract

In the known stackable containers, the disadvantage is that residual liquids still remain in the region of the top part of the container adjacent to the filling nozzle when the liquid is poured out. In order to avoid this, the inside surfaces (18) of the transitional parts (12 to 19) of the container wall between the side parts at (3, 4) and the top part (5) of the container adjacent to the filling nozzle (7) are concavely curved, seen from the inside, and the radii (R1, R2) of curvature of these inner curves (18) are dimensioned such that the inside surfaces (18) merge continuously into the pouring-out region (19) of the filling nozzle (7). <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a preferably stackable container made of plastic, on the upper part of which forms the container cover, both a handle and a filler neck which can be shut off by a closure cap or the like are formed, the region of the upper part adjacent to this handle or the filler neck protruding upwards and has a flat stacking surface which enables the placement of a further similar container.

Such stackable and generally cubic-shaped containers are known, for example, from German Utility Model 77 35 282 and also from German Offenlegungsschrift 31 39 083. Although the stiffness of these containers is very great due to their special shape and these containers are therefore stacked easily and safely leave, so there is still the disadvantage that when pouring out the liquids in these containers, residual liquids still remain in the area of the upper part of the container adjacent to the filler neck, which cannot flow off the filler neck even when these containers are completely tilted. So far, there has been no pouring out of these residual liquids still remaining in the containers, so that these liquids have been disposed of together with the containers. With today's growing awareness of environmental damage caused by such residual liquids, there is now a requirement to completely empty such plastic containers so that only the containers themselves have to be destroyed, but the containers no longer contain any residual liquids which may be harmful to the environment.

The object of the present invention is now to meet this previously discussed requirement for complete emptying of such containers.

This object is now achieved in that the inner surfaces of the transition parts of the container wall located between the side parts and the upper part of the container, adjacent to the filler neck, are concavely curved from the inside and the radii of curvature of these inner curvatures are dimensioned such that these curvatures are continuously in the pouring area of the filler neck. This transition of the concave curvatures into the pouring area of the filler neck ensures that no residual liquids remain in the upper part of the container and the same can thus be completely emptied.

In this inventive design, the inner surfaces of both the front and the side transition parts of the container are appropriately concave. The radii of curvature of these concavely curved inner surfaces of the transition part have a length of, for example, 1/10 to 1/2 of the container depth or the container width.

In addition, it is also expedient if the inner surface of the front side part is concave at least in the area adjacent to the filler neck and the associated radii of curvature of this inner curvature are relatively large. The length of the radii of curvature of this concavely curved inner surface of the end face of the container can be, for example, about 2 to 5 times larger than the container width.

Further details of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of two exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing and from the claims already discussed above.

Show it:
  • 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the container according to the invention,
  • FIGS. 2 to 6 individual sections of the container according to the cut lines indicated,
  • 7 shows the perspective view of a second embodiment and
  • 8 to 12 individual sections of this second embodiment according to the indicated cutting lines.

The in the Figs. 1 to 6 shown container 1 is blown from plastic and has a bottom 2 and four with 3 and 4 designated side parts. These side parts 3 and 4 run into an upper part 5, which forms the container ceiling, on which a handle 6 is formed and in which a filler neck 7 which can be closed by a screw cap (not shown in particular) is formed. The container width is designated with b and the container depth with t.

In order to be able to safely stack several containers 1 of this type on top of one another, this upper part 5 has a flat stacking surface 8 which is U-shaped and surrounds both the handle 6 and the filler neck 7. Furthermore, warts, designated 9, are formed on this stacking surface 8, which, when a second container 1 of the same type is placed on this container 1, reach from below into troughs or the like, not particularly shown, formed in the bottom 2 of the container 1 placed thereon . Furthermore, in the bottom 2 of each container 1 there is also a groove or the like, designated 10, for receiving the upper part 11 of the handle 6 formed on the upper part 5 of the container, which protrudes upwards above the stacking surface 8.

As can further be seen in particular from FIG. 1, the upper part 5 of the container 1 according to the invention has four transition parts, designated 12 to 15, which are convexly curved outwards and, on the one hand, are flush with the upper edges 16 of the side parts 3 and 4, and on the other hand merge flush into the flat stacking surface 8.

So that when the liquid in the container 1 is poured out, no residues of it remain in the transition parts 12 to 15 adjacent to the filler neck, the inner surfaces 17 and 18 of these transition parts 12 to 15 are concave from the inside, with the radii of curvature R1 and R2 are dimensioned so that the curvatures of these transition parts 12 to 15 continuously transition into the area 19 of the filler neck 7 formed on the upper part 5. These previously mentioned radii of curvature R1 and R2 have a length which is approximately equal to 1/10 to 1/2 of the container width b or the container depth t.

In the second embodiment of the container 21 according to the invention, shown diagrammatically in FIG. 7, its components are identified by the same reference numerals as have already been used in the first embodiment. Compared to this first embodiment, the container 21 also differs in that its end wall 22 is already convex, the concave curvature 23 of the inner surface 24 of this side wall 22 continuously merging into the pouring area 19 of the filler neck 7. This convex design of the end-side container wall 22 ensures sufficient stiffness of the container 21 on the one hand, but on the other hand the liquid in the container 21 can flow continuously into the filler neck 7. The radius of curvature R3 of this container wall 22 provided in this case has a length that is 2 to 5 times larger than the container width b.
