Description

The invention relates to a profile seal made of elastic material for sealing windows, doors and facades, in particular on the weather side, with an outer and an inner sealing zone and an anchoring wedge formed on the back of the basic profile body.

Such a seal is described for example in DE-C-1031497, the two sealing zones being designed as flat sealing surfaces and being arranged symmetrically to the center of the profile. A seal with two bead-like sealing zones arranged asymmetrically with respect to the anchoring wedge, which at the same time has the function of a glass strip, is known from DE-A-3400749. From EP-A-0100518 and DE-A 3438126, sealing profiles with a concave sealing lip or a sealing lip folded down towards the profile center are known. This shape of the sealing lip results in better contact and pressure of the sealing lip on the respective counter surface.

In the glazing of windows, for example, leaks occur repeatedly when using the usual sealing frames made from profile strips and mitred in the corners and glued, particularly on the weather side. It is therefore endeavored to avoid these critical adhesive spots in the corners.

However, the previously proposed solutions are considerably more complex than the usual sealing frame glued in the corners. Prefabricated sealing frames with vulcanized corners, e.g. much more expensive and therefore require a corresponding minimum lot size. When using preformed corners, which are glued to a sealing frame with a meter control, the glue points in the particularly critical corner area are avoided, but the number of glue points doubles.

It has also already been proposed to use so-called circumferential sealing frames, which consist of only one profile piece, which also runs through the corners. These sealing frames have only one joint to be glued, which is expediently placed on the top of the window frame, that is to say in an uncritical area.

When using all-round sealing frames, the choice of sealing profile is of particular importance. When the profile is deflected by 90 ° in the corners, folds occur, which in turn can lead to leaks. The folds are reinforced by the sealing pressure. In addition, folds may not or only insufficiently compressible material accumulations in the corner area, which can lead to excessive breakage of the pane, but a sufficiently high sealing pressure must be guaranteed.

From DE-B-1033883 a circumferential seal made of soft rubber for sealing in particular motor vehicle doors is known. To securely fasten the seal in the door rebate, an expanding cord made of harder material is inserted into one insert groove provided in the seal. This seal can only be installed all around the receiving frame. It is not suitable for glazing windows with a seal arranged on the inside of the frame.

The object of the present invention is to provide a profile seal for circumferential sealing frames, which avoids folds at the corners even at high sealing pressures and ensures a full-surface contact of the seal on the frame and glass.

This object is achieved in a profile seal of the type mentioned in that the outer sealing zone consists of closed-cell, driven elastomeric or thermoplastic material and the remaining cross-sectional area of the profile seal consists of conventional, elastic sealing material, that the outer sealing zone as a bead and the inner sealing zone are designed as a concave sealing lip, the sealing lip of the inner sealing zone being folded over in the direction of the profile center line and extending approximately into the region of the center line of the anchoring wedge.

When using a closed-celled, driven material, for example foam rubber, for the outer sealing lip, it is possible, for example, to lay the profile seal all the way around in a window frame without wrinkling in the critical corner area. The shape of the sealing lip ensures a sufficiently large sealing surface. The resultant accumulation of material in the corner area even provides additional security even at rough and uneven corners, whereby it is ensured that the resulting pressures do not damage the glass pane by pressing the cellular material.

The bead-shaped profile cross section of the outer sealing zone ensures that the gap between the glass and the frame profile is filled completely and smoothly. The remaining cross section of the sealing profile consists of elastic material that is usually used for sealing profiles. Since the inner sealing zone has a sealing lip which is concave and extends approximately to the region of the center line of the anchoring wedge, it is ensured that wrinkling is largely avoided in the region of the inner sealing zone.

The profile seal according to the invention is further explained using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings.
