Die Lage der Tragelemente in der Leerstufe, Abstützlage, in Bezug auf die Transportrichtung der Werkstücke, entspricht der Lage der Tragelemente am Schiebetisch bzw. an dem Werkzeug. Es ist so eine Zwischenablage für nur ein Werkstück einrichtbar. Der Bereich des Zwischenraumes zwischen den Ständern und der Bereich eines Abfallkastens kann nicht überbrückt werden. Das Verdrehen der Tragelemente kann selbsttätig erfolgen ohne ein zusätzliches Stellmittel. Die Leerstufe einer Presse wird durch einen Schließkasten 1 im Bereich von Pressenständern 2 dargestellt. Hier befindet sich eine Konsole 3 mit Tragarmen 4 zur Lagerung von zwei in Transportrichtung der Werkstücke - Pfeile 16 - ausgerichteten Zahnstangen 7. Die Welle 11 ist in beiden Tragarmen 4 gelagert und weist Zahnräder 12 auf, die in eine gleiche Verzahnung an der Unterseite der Zahnstangen 7 eingreifen. Die Tragarme 4 sind weiterhin durch eine Anlageleiste 20 starr untereinander verbunden. Die Endteile 17 der Zahnstangen 7 sind, wie es zu Fig. 3 noch zu beschreiben ist, zur Aufnahme einer an einem Schiebetisch 21, ggf. an einem von dem Schiebetisch 21 getragenen Werkzeug 22, abnehmbar über Halterungen 23 gelagerten Traverse 13 ausgebildet. Der Schiebetisch 21 ist über Laufmittel 24 austauschbar. Die Traverse 13 ist an den Zahnstangen 7 mit vollen Linien, an dem Werkzeug 22 in strichpunktierten Linien gezeichnet. Diese trägt für jedes Tragelement 14 einen Aufnahmebolzen 38 in einem Drehlager 26. In dem oberen Endbereich des Aufnahmebolzens 38 ist eine der Form des Tragelementes 14 angepaßte Auflage 25 angebracht. Zwischen dem oberen Bereich des Aufnahmebolzens 38 und der Traverse 13 ist eine Drehfeder 18 ausgespannt. Apparatus according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the gripping and holding device can be brought into effective connection with at least one crosshead (13) bearing the bearing elements (14), which crosshead is fastened detachably to the sliding table (21) or to the tool (22) and can be carried along by the racks (7) of the gripping and holding device, and in that the crosshead (13) has for each bearing element (14) a receiver (15) which can be set in rotation and which is in effective connection with a rotary drive.
  4. Apparatus according to Claim 3, characterised in that the crosshead (13) can be picked up by the end parts (17) of racks (7) near to the tool (22) and the sliding table (21), in that a gear (12) mounted rotationally on the bracket (3) of the gripping and holding device engages in each case in the toothings of the racks (7), and the gears (12) are in effective connection with one another by a common shaft (11) driven by a motor (8).
  5. Apparatus according to Claim 3, characterised in that the receivers (15), which can be set in rotation in the crosshead (13), comprise a receiver bolt (38) having an upper receiver region (rest 25) for the bearing element (14) and a pivot bearing region (26) for mounting in the crosshead (13), and in that a toothing (27), which is in effective connection with the rotary drive, is formed in each receiver bolt (38) in the pivot bearing region (26).
  6. Apparatus according to Claim 5, characterised in that the rotary drive comprises a rack (28) which is assigned to each receiver bolt (38) and is in effective connection with its toothing (27), in that the rack (28) is loosely mounted in the crosshead (13) in the direction (16) of transport of the workpieces, in that each loose rack (28) has in each case a stop (19) which is directed against the gripping and holding device and can be placed on the latter on a contact strip (20), and in that each receiver bolt (38) is in effective connection with an energy store (18) for storing the rotary movement.
  7. Apparatus according to Claim 6, characterised in that each energy store is a prestressed torsion spring (19) mounted on the receiver bolt (38), which torsion spring is fastened with its one end part to the crosshead (13) and with its other end part to the receiver bolt (38).
  8. Apparatus according to Claim 2, characterised in that a displacing rod (29) is carried along parallel to each rack (7), which displacing rod is in effective connection by one end part with an operating cylinder (5), which is mounted in the region of the rack (7) remote from the tool (22) and the sliding table (21), for its longitudinal movement (34), and by its other end part with a bolt (30) mounted rotatably in the region of the rack (7) near to the tool (22) and the sliding table (21), in that the bolt (30) has a spiral-shaped circumferential groove (31) which interacts with a pin (32) in the rack (7) for a rotary movement (33) during its longitudinal movement (34) via the displacing rod (29), and in that the bolt (30) with the end part projecting from the rack (7) has a fixed bar (35) which can be anchored on the crosshead (13).
