Description

The invention relates to a harness system for working with the lanyard of horses comprising a head piece and a lanyard.

Head harnesses allow the use and / or working of horses in hand or mounted. Currently. horse users have at their disposal four classic methods:
  • - the barnum which is a coercive means allowing to hold and make yield a horse but which cannot be used to make turn the horse, softly, with the three paces.
  • - the cavalry which allows to pass from work on the right hand to work on the left hand without modifying the attachment system of the lanyard but which proves difficult to adjust on young horses. In addition, this process is often ineffective with difficult horses, or too hard with delicate horses and in all cases, predisposes to reverse working attitudes (head in the air). In addition, a lack of fixity is to be deplored in the case of horses which pull with the fox, and it is not possible to adapt the usual work reins to it.
  • - the direct lanyard which is fixed by one of the rings of the net. This simple system does not allow the horse's head to be controlled in the vertical plane. On the contrary, it predisposes to a lateral tilting and to resistances in the opposite direction to the lanyard effect. In the latter case, it is accompanied by an exaggerated movement, sometimes even injurious, from the mouth into the horse's mouth.
  • - the "Colbert" loin. This lanyard which passes through one of the rings of the net then on the neck of the horse before attaching to the ring of the opposite net, allows by its effects to currently obtain the best result in working with the lanyard. The resulting upward tensions on the mouth are distributed more evenly.

It is also known (patent application FR-A-2 396 721) a harness designated under the name of "martingale and intended to control the raising of the horse's head. It has a terminal part of a leather leash in the form of a fork constituting two lateral leashes provided at their end with two carabiners. Each leash passes through the throat of a pulley mounted on a support secured by a swivel clip to a bit of a net. According to a variant, the ends of the lateral leashes are attached to the horse's head by a rubber ring, the end common to the leashes being attached to the underbelly. The horse subjected to the martingale lowers the head and the neck, the lanyard attached to a bit is used for the work of the horse without action on the martingale. The direct grip on the mouth may lack softness and cause defenses and, in this case. the system is not coercive enough to fight them effectively.

In addition, the complexity of the operations required by a change of hand and a reversal of the fixings can frighten a young and delicate subject. The user may at this stage not be able to prevent the risks and dangers of a horse suddenly taking its freedom.

The device which is the subject of the invention makes it possible to avoid the drawbacks of the conventional windings mentioned above.

It retains the beneficial effects of the so-called "Colbert" loin, but it also gives them:
  • - additional elasticity,
  • - a softness of use by the fact that the loin is no longer in direct contact with the mouth,
  • - safety by a fixing system allowing the main gear to remain fixed on the horse's head by the use of a fork lanyard allowing a hand reversal while constantly keeping control of the horse,
  • - Ease of use by a main harness that can be simply slid over the neck of the horse and efficiently and smoothly attached to the mouth.

The harness system according to the invention, comprising in addition to the headrest a head piece to which the lanyard is attached, said head piece comprising parts which pass through the grooves of two pulleys capable of being fixed respectively to the two rings of the mouth, is remarkable in that the head piece consists of a flat part intended to be placed on the neck of the horse and two end parts each passing through the groove of the corresponding pulley and in that the two end parts each carry an abutment cleat capable of cooperating with the corresponding pulley as well as a ring intended for fixing the lanyard.

The explanations and figures given below by way of example will make it possible to understand how the invention can be implemented.

Figure 3 is a view of a portion of the fork lanyard constituting with the head piece the system according to the invention.
Figure 4 is a view of a second embodiment of the head piece according to the invention.
The head piece 3 is fixed to the harness 1 by means which will be specified later.

The harness system shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 comprises a flat part 5 made of leather, canvas or any other suitable material, intended to be deposited on the neck of the horse. The two ends 6 and 7 of this piece are sewn so as to be in the form of a link round section which allows them to slide easily in two pulleys 8 and 9 (a single pulley 9 is shown) intended to be attached themselves, by means of a carabiner with pin 10 and 11, to the two rings 12, 13 from the mouth 2.

The two ends 6 and 7 of the flat part or links are provided with a stopper stop 14, 15 in leather or other suitable material and with a ring 16, 17 allowing connection to one 18 and the other 19 of the two parts of the fork lanyard (of which only the end is shown in FIG. 3) which adapts to it.

The system according to the invention makes it possible to obtain, in addition to the holding of the horse, a balanced, progressive and symmetrical tension effect on the mouth 2, by means of the link 6, 7 sliding in the pulleys 8, 9.

La partie plate 5 placée sur la nuque se déplace vers la flèche 20.In the case of working with the left hand lanyard, the cleat 14 abutting on the right pulley 8 determines the fixed point, while the left link 7 sliding in the left pulley 9 depending on the effects of the lanyard (arrow 20) which is connected to it determines the homogeneous voltages (directed in the direction of arrows 21, 22) desired by the user. The flat part 5 placed on the nape of the neck moves towards the arrow 20.

In the case of a change of hand, it suffices to detach a first branch, for example 19, from the fork lanyard of the left ring 17 to fix it on the right ring 16, then the second branch 18, to reverse work. At no time was the means of support between the horse and the user interrupted.

According to another embodiment shown in Figure 4, the flat part 5 consists of a sheath 23 of leather, canvas or other suitable material, intended to be placed on the neck of the animal.

Elements similar to those of the first embodiment bear the same references.

Each end of the link moves in a pulley 8, 9 equipped with a pin snap hook 10, 11.

Une partie d'attache 25 permet éventuellement de fixer le fourreau 23 sur la têtière d'harnachement 1 (figure 1).An attachment part 25 optionally makes it possible to fix the sheath 23 on the harness headrest 1 (FIG. 1).
