Abstract

A reclining chair is disclosed containing a conventional seat portion pivotable about a fixed pivot shaft or axle and a backrest containing a backrest plate displaceable upon guide rails. These guide rails are pivoted to a greater extent than the seat during the rearward reclining of the seat, due to the action of a guide element connected with a piston rod of a pneumatic spring arrangement. Due to the movement of the guide element there is rotated a transmission lever pair about a stationary pivot shaft, the transmission lever pair being connected with the guide element. A curved entrainment member, hingedly connected with this transmission lever pair, is connected with the backrest plate. Since a pivot shaft between the transmission lever pair and the curved entrainment member moves through an appreciably larger distance than the connection location between the seat and the guide element or the guide rails, the backrest plate is downwardly drawn along the guide rails. By virtue of this adjustment mechanism there is ensured that the backrest plate follows that course of movement which is performed by the back of the user during reclining of the chair.

Description

The invention relates to a chair according to the preamble of claim 1.

Chairs, mainly office chairs, of this type have been known for some time. They offer remarkable seating comfort, because on the one hand they provide good support for the back of the user in the starting or working position thanks to the practically vertical backrest, but on the other hand they allow relaxed sitting (so-called relax position) in the reclined position.

Chairs of a similar type have the following disadvantage. When the angle between the seat and the backrest widens, the upper body of the user does not simply make a swiveling movement, but instead there is a resulting movement superimposed on various movements. The result is that when the back of the back is tilted, the user's back performs a movement in which every single point on the back runs through a fairly steep downward curve. However, the backrest cannot follow this movement. Since it is attached to the rear end of the seat and pivots this end when it is tilted down, it also moves downwards while simultaneously performing the pivoting movement. However, their movement curve is less steep, so that there is a relative movement between the back and the backrest.

The invention now aims to avoid this relative movement or at least to reduce it in such a way that it is no longer noticeable.

A chair of the type mentioned is characterized according to the invention by the features of the characterizing part of the claim.

The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, for example; show it :
  • 1 is a schematic representation of a chair of the previously known type and its mode of operation,
  • 2 is a top view of this chair, with the seat partially broken away,

  • Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the leadership of the movable backrest plate.

In order to better understand the sequence of movements and the mode of operation of the chair, it should first be explained with reference to FIG. 1 how a chair of the previously known type functions. The schematic representation shows a possible embodiment of such a known chair. With 1 the standpipe of the chair is called. This has a seat support 2 with tabs 3 (only one visible) which contain an axis of rotation 4 for the seat 5 formed from pins or the like. Standpipe 1, seat support 2, tabs 3 and thus also the axis of rotation 4 are to be regarded as stationary for the following explanations; they are therefore also shown in this figure as if they formed a single part. The seat 5 is the first of the movable parts in that it can be pivoted about the axis of rotation 4. The solid line shows the seat in its normal position; the dashed line, marked 5 ', shows it in its tilted or inclined position, into which it can be brought by a leaning user. The pivot angle between the starting position 5 and the inclined position 5 'is denoted by a. The seat has a pivot axis 6 at its rear end. A further movable part is attached to this, namely the backrest, which is denoted overall by 7, is pivotable. It continues below the pivot axis 6 in a guide part 8 consisting of two parallel supports (only one support visible in FIG. 1). This is rigidly connected to the backrest 7. Incidentally, the seat 5 is not only pivotable about the axis of rotation 4, but is also mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner, as will be shown on the basis of the following explanations. The guide part 8 can namely be pivoted about a pivot axis 9a attached to the rigid seat support 2, and since it is consequently stationary, it forms the center of the pivoting movement of all movable parts, i.e. the seat 5, the backrest 7 and the guide part 8 together with the pivot axis 6 it follows from this, in particular when looking at FIG. 1, that the seat not only pivots about the axis of rotation 4, but also has to move along the same, which is made possible by suitable means, usually by elongated holes.

Also articulated on the pivot axis 6 is a piston rod 10 of a cylinder-piston unit, usually a gas spring 11 of a commercially available type, which must also be pivotably mounted due to the movement of the pivot axis 6, specifically at the upper end of the standpipe 1. Since the distance of the gas spring pivot point 11 a from the pivot axis 6 is less than the constant distance of the pivot axes 9a and 6 from each other and this pivot point 11a is also next to the connecting line of the two mentioned pivot axes, its distance from the pivot axis 6 shortens during the backward movement or when changing the position of the latter; the gas spring 11 is thus compressed, whereby it can be locked as usual in any position of its piston, and this also results in the resilient effect when leaning backward.

If the seat pivots from 5 to 5 'during this backward movement, the pivot axis 6 also changes its position as mentioned; the new location is designated 6 '. In doing so, she travels a distance labeled a. As a result of this movement, the guide part 8 also changes its position, since it carries the pivot axis 6. Its new layer 8 'forms an angle with the old layer 8 which is larger than the angle a. Since the backrest 7 is rigidly connected to the guide part 8, it also changes its position to the same extent. It also swivels from 7 to 7 'by this angle, which is denoted by β. She points So in this position to the seat at a larger angle than in the starting position.

Fig. 2 zeigt schematisch einige konstruktive Einzelheiten. Fig. 2 shows schematically some structural details. The seat 5 is shown partially broken away to show the underlying organs. It can be seen that the seat support 2 widens considerably at its front end, that is to say it is T-shaped, in order to carry one tab 3 each. As shown, the axis of rotation 4 can consist of two short swivel shafts about which the seat 5 can swing. The pivot axis 6, however, is continuous because of the bearing of the piston rod 10; it is attached to the underside of the seat 5 in a known and therefore not shown manner. In order to show that the guide part 8, consisting of the two mentioned supports, and the backrest 7 are rigidly connected to one another, these parts are shown as a single part.

Betrachtet man einen Punkt der Lehne, beispielsweise das obere Ende E, so wandert dieser gemäss den eingetragenen Pfeilen 12 zur Stelle E'.1 that the backrest 7 not only makes a circular pivoting movement, but also lowers by the distance a. If you consider a point on the backrest, for example the upper end E, it moves according to the arrows 12 to the position E '.

Now it can be proven that the human back does not make the same movement. Rather, it executes a movement in which a corresponding point, which rests, for example, on said point E, moves to a point E "when the chair is tilted back, which point is substantially lower than point E '. The backrest 7 thus has, relative to This relative shift, which is referred to in technical terms as " shirt pull-out effect" because of its effect on male users, is now to be avoided by the chair according to the invention. This is explained with reference to FIGS.

The backrest 7 has changed somewhat, as will be explained. The position of the gas spring 11 has also changed. It is now pivotally attached to the seat support 2. The articulation of the guide part 8 on the seat support 2, that is to say the pivot axis 9a; it is replaced by a pivot axis 9 at the end of the guide part 8. On the other hand, an approximately L-shaped pair of transmission levers 13 (only one lever can be seen in FIG. 3) and a driver bow 14 have been newly added. The pair of transmission levers 13 has three articulation points. With the short leg 13a of each of the L-shaped levers, the pair of levers is articulated on the pivot axis 9 of the guide part 8 and on the piston rod 10 of the gas spring. Another articulation point is designated 15; this is the actual axis of rotation, which is fixedly attached to immovable seat support 2 and about which the pair of transmission levers 13 rotates. The last articulation point 16 is located on the longer leg 1 3b of each lever and is formed by an axis with which the driver bow 14 is articulated on the transmission lever pair 13 (FIG. 4).

The driver bow 14, a rigid, curved, elongated plate, is articulated on a backrest plate 70 at its other end. Details can be found above all in FIG. 5, which is yet to be explained. This backrest plate 70 is slidably supported by sliders 71 on a guide consisting of two guide rails 72, which form a direct continuation of each support of the guide part 8. 5, the sliders 71 have a recess 73 into which a projecting rib 74 of each guide rail 72 engages. Above all, it can also be seen from this figure that the driver bow 14 is connected to the backrest plate 70 in an articulated manner via a pivot axis 17, this pivot axis passing through two tabs 75 rigidly attached to the plate.

The mode of operation will now be explained with reference to FIG. 3. If the seat 5 tilts, the guide part 8 changes its position to 8 ', as already explained. However, because the pair of translation levers 13 is now connected to it via the pivot axis 9, the displacement of this pivot axis 9 to 9 'results in entrainment of each leg 13a. Because of the fixed axis of rotation 15, the pair of levers 13 thus rotates about the same. The ends of the legs 13a therefore perform a circular movement. It is therefore necessary to also articulate the gas spring. 3, because of the relative position of the piston rod 10 to the legs 13a, the pivoting movement of the gas spring 11 is very minimal, so that this has practically no influence on the movement of the guide part 8.

The rotational movement of the transmission lever 13 now has the consequence, however, that because of the unequal length of the two legs 13a, 13b of each lever, the ends of the legs 1 3b carry out an unevenly larger, ie translated movement. The articulation point 16 thus executes a circular movement around the articulation point 15 as the center point and thereby travels a distance which is denoted by b in FIG. 3. It can immediately be seen that this distance b is considerably greater than the distance a (movement from 6 to 6 ', FIG. 1). The driver bow 14 is thus pulled downward more and therefore pulls the backrest plate 70 down along the guide rails 72, although these themselves move downwards by the distance a. The intended purpose has been achieved. If one looks again at point E on the backrest plate, it moves in the course of the inclination towards E ", ie to the point at which, as mentioned earlier, the relevant point on the back of the user has also reached. The relative displacement between the backrest and back falls the extent of this movement of the backrest plate 70 is determined by the geometry of the adjustment mechanism, in particular by that of the pair of transmission levers 13.

The embodiment shown here shows thus a mechanical adjustment device. It goes without saying that other adjustment devices, for example hydraulic or electrical, could also be used to bring about the same effect. It should also be pointed out that, especially when using such adjustment devices, a reverse relative movement between the backrest and the seat can also take place, in that the latter is raised at the inclination while the backrest or the backrest plate merely inclines. By lifting the seat, the same relative displacement between the seat and the backrest results in this case as in the example shown.

Claims (4)
