Description
Description
The present invention relates to the field of furniture and in particular tables intended for classrooms or meeting rooms.
In these classrooms or meeting rooms, it is often necessary to rearrange the work surface formed by the tables, depending for example on whether the students or attendees have to face a teacher or presenter, or whether these students or attendees have to be grouped into small working groups.
With the furniture of the prior art, the possibilities for rearranging the tables are often limited and do not allow the members of the group to form a circle in order to be able to easily interact with one another. Furthermore, it can be laborious to move the tables from one configuration to another, in particular in the case of a class, where the teacher has to rearrange the work surface alone.
Examples of furniture of the prior art can be found in patent applications JP H07 4660 U or US 2014/007799 Δ1.
Thus, the present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks and provide modular furniture with which it is possible to obtain various configurations in order to adapt to various working situations while limiting the space required by the various configurations in order to be able to create the various configurations even in a small space such as a classroom.
To that end, the present invention relates to furniture comprising: a top having four straight sides connected by four corners and, at least one leg supporting the top, in which a first corner of the top forms an angle of 90°, and a second corner of the top forms an angle of 120°, a third corner of the top forms an angle of 12° and a fourth corner of the top forms an angle of 78°.
According to an additional aspect of the present invention, the length of the sides of the top is between 50 centimetres and 1.20 metres.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the corners of the top are rounded.
According to an additional aspect of the present invention, the corners of the top have a radius of curvature between 50 and 65 millimetres.
According to an additional aspect of the present invention, the furniture comprises casters at the base of the at least one leg.
According to another aspect of the present invention, at least one of the casters comprises a brake.
According to an additional aspect of the present invention, the leg or legs are made of lacquered metal.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the furniture comprises four legs respectively positioned at less than five centimetres from the four corners of the top.
The present invention also relates to a set of furniture according to one of the preceding claims, in which the furniture items are configured so as to be arranged side-by-side so as to form a work surface.
Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description, provided by way of nonlimiting example, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
Figure la is a diagram of a piece of furniture according to one embodiment of the present invention;
Figure lb is a plan view with sides of a piece of furniture according to one embodiment of the present invention;
Figure 2 is a plan view of an assembly of three pieces of furniture according to a first embodiment;
Figure 3 is a plan view of an assembly of four pieces of furniture according to a first embodiment;
Figure 4 is a plan view of an assembly of five pieces of furniture according to a first embodiment;
Figure 5 is a plan view of a straight-line assembly of furniture according to a first embodiment.
The invention relates to a piece of furniture corresponding to a table as shown in Figure la. The piece of furniture 1 comprises a top 3 that is supported by at least one leg 5, in the present case four legs, on which the top 3 rests. Figure lb is a plan view of a top 3 according to one embodiment. The top 3 comprises four straight sides, labelled Cl, C2, C3 and C4 and of respective length LI, L2, L3 and L4, connected by four corners, labelled Rl, R2, R3 and R4 and of respective angles Al, A2, A3 and A4. The lengths of the four sides of the top 3 are not identical. The top 3 comprises at least one right angle A2, and an angle A4 of 120°.
According to the embodiment shown in Figure lb, the top 3 also comprises a corner R3 forming an angle A3 of 72° and a corner Rl forming an angle A1 of 78°. The length LI, L2, L3 and L4 of sides Cl, C2, C3 and C4 is for example between 50 centimetres and 120 centimetres. The lengths LI, L2, L3 and L4 are for example respectively 81 centimetres, 76.7 centimetres, 73.1 centimetres and 55.3 centimetres in the case of a piece of furniture intended for a classroom. These dimensions can be slightly greater in the case of a piece of furniture intended for a meeting room for adults. The corners Rl, R2, R3 and R4 of the top 3 can also be rounded with a radius of curvature between 50 and 65 millimetres, for example 58 millimetres.
The top 3 is supported by at least one leg 5, for example a central leg, or three legs 5 but more generally by four legs 5. In the case of a table having four legs 5, the legs 5 are located close to the corners Cl, C2, C3 and C4 of the top 3, for example within a radius of 5 centimetres around a corner. The legs 5 are for example made of a metal such as aluminium or steel, and may be lacquered. The legs 5 may also comprise casters attached to the base of the at least one leg 5, to make it easier to move the piece of furniture 1, and a brake coupled to at least one of the casters in order to improve the stability of the piece of furniture 1 when it is in a working position. The height of the legs 5, and therefore of the top 3, can be chosen depending on the intended use of the piece of furniture 1, for example a height of 75 centimetres can be chosen for a classroom. Furthermore, the legs 5 can also be telescopic in order to be able to change the height of the top 3.
There follows a detailed description of the various assembly configurations of the furniture according to this embodiment:
Figure 2 shows a first configuration bringing together three pieces of furniture 1, labelled Ml, M2 and M3, so as to be able to have three people in a circle. This configuration is obtained by bringing together the 120° corners R4 of the three pieces of furniture. The people 7 seated at the three pieces of furniture Ml, M2 and M3 form an equilateral triangle and can therefore work together effectively, requiring minimum effort to face one or other of the two other people 7.
Figure 3 shows a second configuration bringing together four pieces of furniture 1, labelled Ml, M2, M3 and M4, so as to be able to have four people in a circle. This configuration is obtained by bringing together the 90° corners R2 of the four pieces of furniture Ml, M2, M3 and M4 . The four people 7 positioned at the four pieces of furniture Ml, M2, M3 and M4 thus form a square and can work effectively in a group of four.
Figure 4 shows a third configuration bringing together five pieces of furniture 1, labelled Ml, M2, M3, M4 and M5, so as to be able to have five people in a circle. This configuration is obtained by bringing together the 72° corners R3 of the five pieces of furniture Ml, M2, M3, M4 and M5. The five people 7 positioned at the five pieces of furniture Ml, M2, M3, M4 and M5 thus form a circle and can work effectively in a group of five.
This embodiment also makes it possible to align the furniture 1 as shown in Figure 5, pairing the pieces of furniture 1 alternately by their sides C2 and C4.
Thus, the particular shape of the furniture 1 of the present invention makes it possible to provide tables that can be grouped together in different ways to form a common work surface depending on the number of people in the working groups, and to improve the interaction that is possible between the people of the working group. This furniture is therefore particularly well suited to classrooms or meeting rooms in which the people can be grouped in small groups, or conversely arranged in line in order to follow a presentation. The furniture can also be provided with casters to make it easier to transition from one configuration to another.
