Ein solches gleichzeitiges Betätigen kann bei hohen Motordrehzahlen er­ wünscht sein. Bei niedrigen Drehzahlen kann dagegen angestrebt sein, von den jeweils mehreren Ein- und Auslaßventilen einer Brennkammer jeweils nur ein Ventil der gleichen Art gleich­ zeitig zu betätigen. Für diesen Fall ist der mögliche Verbund der betreffenden Kipphebel so trennbar, daß daraus nur einer auf das ihm zugeordnete Ventil einwirkt, während der oder die übrigen aus diesem Verbund gelösten Kipphebel in diesem Be­ triebszustand ohne Antrieb bleiben. Die hy­ draulische Beaufschlagung ist dabei derart, daß der Kolben 11 zur Entriegelung der beiden Kipphebel 2, 6 voll in die Bohrung 9, in der er lagert, eindringen kann, während er zur Verrie­ gelung in die gegenüberliegende Kipphebel-Bohrung 10 ausge­ fahren ist. Das Ausfahren des Kolbens 11 aus der ihn lagernden Bohrung 9 mit anschließendem Einfahren in die gegenüberlie­ gende Kipphebel-Bohrung erfolgt in einem Betriebszustand, in dem beide Kipphebel 2, 6 gerade gemeinsam auf dem jeweiligen Grundkreisabschnitt ihrer zugehörigen Nocken 4, 5 der Nocken­ welle 1 anliegen.
