Die Wirkstoffabgabe wird bei einem frisch eingesetzten Filter deutlich höher ausfallen als nach einer gewissen Benutzungsdauer. Darüber hinaus wird die Wirkstoffabgabe auch wesentlich davon abhängen, ob die Dusche regelmäßig benutzt wird oder auch für eine gewisse Zeit unbenutzt bleibt, wodurch sich der Filter ggf. in einer trockenen oder halbfeuchten Umgebung befinden kann und dadurch unkontrollierbaren chemischen Vorgängen ausgesetzt ist.
