An Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display has received great attention because of its advantages such as high contrast, no need for a backlight, wide viewing angle, and fast response speed.
When the OLED display displays, under the action of a voltage difference between an anode and a cathode of the organic light emitting device, a light emitting layer located between the anode and the cathode emits light, and the light exits from a light emitting side of the display panel to be observed by an observer. However, when the conventional OLED display emits light, a part of the light leaks from the backlight side of the display panel, which reduces the light-emitting brightness of the light-emitting side of the display panel and affects the light-emitting effect of the light-emitting side of the display panel.

All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
The terminology used in the embodiments of the invention is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the invention. As used in the examples of the present invention and the appended claims, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
It should be understood that the term "and/or" as used herein is merely one type of association that describes an associated object, meaning that three relationships may exist, e.g., a and/or B may mean: a exists alone, A and B exist simultaneously, and B exists alone. In addition, the character "/" herein generally indicates that the former and latter related objects are in an "or" relationship.
It should be understood that although the terms first, second, etc. may be used to describe the reflective layers in embodiments of the present invention, the reflective layers should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish the reflective layers from each other. For example, a first reflective layer may also be referred to as a second reflective layer, and similarly, a second reflective layer may also be referred to as a first reflective layer, without departing from the scope of embodiments of the present invention.
An embodiment of the present invention provides a display panel, as shown in fig. 1 and fig. 2, fig. 1 is a schematic top view of the display panel provided by the embodiment of the present invention, fig. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view along AA' of fig. 1, where the display panel includes a substrate base plate 1 and an organic light emitting device 2, the organic light emitting device 2 includes a light emitting layer 22, the light emitting layer 22 is located on one side of the substrate base plate 1, the display panel further includes a reflective layer 3 located on one side of the light emitting layer 22 away from the light emitting side of the display panel, and a vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on a plane of the substrate base plate 1 is at least partially located between vertical projections of two adjacent light emitting layers 22 on a plane of the substrate base plate 1.
Specifically, the organic light emitting device may be classified into two types, top emission and bottom emission, according to the light emitting manner of the organic light emitting device. Fig. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a display panel employing a top emission organic light emitting device including a cathode 23 and an anode 21, wherein the anode 21 is a total reflection anode and the cathode 23 is a transparent cathode. When the display panel displays, light emitted from the light-emitting layer 22 travels in all directions, as indicated by the dotted arrows in fig. 2, including both light emitted in the direction Z1 and the direction Z2, i.e., directly toward the light-emitting side of the display panel, and light emitted in the direction Z3, i.e., away from the light-emitting side of the display panel. It is understood that the light exit side of the display panel refers to a side of the display panel for exiting light for display. In the top emission structure, as shown in fig. 2, the light emitting side of the display panel refers to a side of the organic light emitting device 2 away from the substrate 1 (the side pointed by the solid arrow in fig. 2 is the light emitting side of the display panel), and a side of the organic light emitting device 2 away from the light emitting side of the display panel is the backlight side of the display panel. The light emitted by the organic light emitting device 2 and directed to the light emitting side of the display panel is directly emitted out of the display panel to be seen by human eyes.
As shown in fig. 3, fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of a display panel of an organic light emitting device adopting a bottom emission structure according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein an anode 21 of the organic light emitting device 2 is a transparent anode, and a cathode 23 is a total reflection cathode. In the display panel of the organic light emitting device adopting the bottom emission structure, the light emitting side of the display panel refers to a side of the organic light emitting device 2 close to the substrate 1 (for example, a side pointed by a solid arrow in fig. 3 is a light emitting side of the display panel), and a side of the organic light emitting device 2 departing from the light emitting side of the display panel is a backlight side of the display panel. Light emitted by the light-emitting layer 22 and directed to the backlight side of the display panel, i.e. to the side of the light-emitting layer 22 facing away from the light-emitting side of the display panel, such as the light propagating along the direction Z3 in fig. 2 and 3, will be reflected by the reflective layer 3 located between two adjacent light-emitting layers 22 during propagation, and the reflected light propagates out of the display panel along the direction Z4 shown in fig. 2 and 3.
As can be seen from the above analysis, the embodiment of the present invention provides a reflective layer 3 on the side of the light-emitting layer 22 facing away from the light-emitting side of the display panel, and the vertical projection of the reflecting layer 3 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1 is at least partially arranged between the vertical projections of the two adjacent light-emitting layers 22 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1, i.e. in a direction perpendicular to the base substrate 1, the reflective layer 3 is arranged on the side of the light-emitting layer 22 facing away from the light-exit side of the display panel, at least a part of the reflective layer 3 is disposed between two adjacent light emitting layers 22 in a direction parallel to the base substrate 1, by arranging the reflective layer 3 in this way, the propagation path of the light emitted from the light-emitting layer 22 and directed to the backlight side of the display panel can be changed, and the amount of light emitted from the light-emitting side of the display panel can be increased, thereby improving the brightness of the light-emitting side of the display panel and improving the display effect.
Specifically, as shown in fig. 2 and 3, the display panel further includes a driving circuit 6 electrically connected to the organic light emitting device 2, and the driving circuit 6 includes a storage capacitor 61 and a plurality of thin film transistors 62 (only the thin film transistor 62 directly electrically connected to the organic light emitting device 2 is illustrated in fig. 2 and 3). When the display panel displays, under the action of an external electric field, electrons and holes are respectively injected from the cathode 23 and the anode 21 to the light-emitting layer 22 positioned between the cathode 23 and the anode 21, the electrons and the holes meet in the light-emitting layer 22 to form excitons, the excitons excite light-emitting molecules in the light-emitting layer 22, the excited light-emitting molecules emit visible light through radiation relaxation, and the visible light is emitted from the light-emitting side of the display panel to human eyes to enable the human eyes to observe a display picture.
It should be noted that, as shown in fig. 2, in the display panel of the organic light emitting device adopting the top emission structure, the cathode 23 is a transparent electrode, so that the cathode 23 of each different organic light emitting device 2 can be connected in the embodiment of the present invention, and the cathode 23 is made into the whole structure under the condition that the light extraction rate of the display panel is not affected, so that a mask process is not required in the manufacturing process of the cathode 23, and the production cost of the display panel can be reduced. Specifically, in the embodiment of the present invention, the cathode 23 of each of the different organic light emitting devices 2 is made to have a full-surface structure, and the anodes 21 of each of the different organic light emitting devices 2 are individually provided, that is, the anodes 21 of any two organic light emitting devices 2 are not connected. So configured, in operation of the display panel, the cathodes 23 receive the same potential and the anodes 21 receive different potentials, thereby causing the respective organic light emitting devices 2 to emit light under the influence of an electric field between the respective cathodes 23 and anodes 21. Of course, in the embodiment of the present invention, the cathodes 23 of the different organic light emitting devices 2 may be separately arranged, that is, the cathodes 23 of any two organic light emitting devices 2 are not connected, and when the display panel displays a display, the required voltages may be provided to the cathodes 23 and the anodes 21 corresponding to the different organic light emitting devices 2 respectively according to the requirement of a display screen, so as to make the corresponding organic light emitting devices 2 emit light.
As shown in fig. 3, in the display panel of the organic light emitting device with the bottom emission structure, in the embodiment of the present invention, the cathode 23 and the anode 21 of each of the different organic light emitting devices 2 may be separately disposed, that is, the cathode 23 and the anode 21 of any two organic light emitting devices 2 are not connected, and when the display panel displays, according to the requirement of the display screen, the required voltages are respectively provided to the cathode 23 and the anode 21 corresponding to the different organic light emitting devices 2, so that the corresponding organic light emitting devices 2 emit light. With this arrangement, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed between two adjacent light emitting layers 22 to change the propagation path of the light emitted from the light emitting layers 22 and emitted to the backlight side of the display panel, thereby increasing the amount of light emitted from the light emitting side of the display panel and improving the brightness of the light emitting side of the display panel.
Illustratively, as shown in fig. 1, the embodiment of the present invention may provide the reflective layer 3 as a mesh structure. The reflecting layer 3 and the light-emitting layer 22 are not overlapped, and the vertical projection of the reflecting layer 3 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1 is positioned between the vertical projections of the two adjacent light-emitting layers 22 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1. Specifically, as shown in fig. 1, the reflective layer 3 includes a first reflective layer 31 extending in the first direction x, and a second reflective layer 32 extending in the second direction y. In this case, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed at various positions in the display panel along the direction perpendicular to the substrate base plate 1, for example, when the display panel employs a top emission organic light emitting device, as shown in fig. 2, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed in the same layer as the anode 21 of the organic light emitting device 2, in which case the anode 21 is not connected to the reflective layer 3, and the perpendicular projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1 is located between the perpendicular projections of the adjacent two anodes 21 on the plane of the substrate base plate.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 4, fig. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a display panel of another organic light emitting device adopting a top emission structure according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the reflective layer 3 is in the same layer as the gate 620 of the thin film transistor 62. Of course, the reflective layer 3 may also be in the same layer as the source 621 and the drain 622 of the tft 62, as long as the reflective layer 3 is not connected to the gate 620, the source 621 and the drain 622, and the normal operation of the tft 62 is not affected.
In the above, the description has been made by setting the same layer of the reflective layer 3 and the existing metal film layer (such as the anode 21 of the organic light emitting device 2, the gate 620 of the thin film transistor 62, the source 621, and the drain 622) in the display panel as an example of the setting position of the reflective layer 3, actually, the reflective layer 3 may be set at other positions, for example, the reflective layer 3 is set in the gate insulating layer 82, that is, the gate insulating layer 82 surrounds the reflective layer 3, or the reflective layer 3 may be set in the planarization layer 83 or the pixel defining layer 84, and the specific setting position of the reflective layer 3 is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
Optionally, in addition to setting the reflective layer 3 to be a mesh structure, in order to reflect the light emitted by the light emitting layer 22 and directed to the backlight side of the display panel to the light emitting side of the display panel, in the embodiment of the present invention, the vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate 1 may be set to cover the gap between the vertical projections of the two adjacent light emitting layers 22 on the plane of the substrate 1, so as to ensure that the light emitted by the light emitting layer 22 and directed to the backlight side of the display panel can be reflected to the light emitting side of the display panel to the maximum extent, thereby improving the light emitting brightness at the light emitting side of the display panel and improving the display effect of the display panel.
Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 5 and fig. 6, fig. 5 is a schematic top view of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 6 is a schematic cross-sectional view along BB' of fig. 5, wherein the reflective layer 3 is a planar structure, and a vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate 1 covers a vertical projection of each organic light emitting device 2 on the plane of the substrate 1. Specifically, as shown in fig. 7, fig. 7 is a schematic top view of an organic light emitting device with a single top emission structure, wherein a vertical projection of the anode 21 on a plane of the substrate 1 covers a vertical projection of the light emitting layer 22 on the plane of the substrate 1; the vertical projection of the cathode 23 on the plane of the substrate 1 covers the vertical projection of the anode 21 on the plane of the substrate 1; the perpendicular projection of the reflective layer 3 onto the plane of the base substrate 1 covers the perpendicular projection of the cathode 23 onto the plane of the base substrate 1. That is, in the embodiment of the present invention, the vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate 1 is set to cover the entire surface structure of the vertical projection of each organic light emitting device 2 on the plane of the substrate, that is, for a single organic light emitting device 2, the area S1 of the light emitting layer 22, the area S2 of the anode 21, the area S3 of the cathode 23, and the area S4 of the reflective layer 3 satisfy the relationship of S1< S2< S3< S4, so as to ensure that the light emitted by the light emitting layer 22 and directed to the backlight side of the display panel can be reflected to the light emitting side of the display panel to the maximum extent, thereby improving the light emitting brightness of the light emitting side of the display panel and improving the display effect of the display panel.
For example, when the reflective layer 3 is provided as a planar structure, the position of the reflective layer 3 in the direction perpendicular to the substrate base 1 may be designed in various ways. Specifically, as shown in fig. 6, in a display panel employing a top emission organic light emitting device, the reflective layer 3 may be located on a side of the base substrate 1 away from the organic light emitting device 2. Alternatively, as shown in fig. 8, fig. 8 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another display panel using a top-emitting organic light-emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein a reflective layer 3 may also be located between the substrate 1 and the organic light-emitting device 2. Illustratively, as shown in fig. 8, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed on the inorganic layer 81 between the base substrate 1 and the organic light emitting device 2. Alternatively, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed between the substrate 1 and the inorganic layer 81, that is, the reflective layer 3 is disposed on the substrate 1, and for example, the substrate 1 may be formed by a polyimide material, so as to form a flexible display panel.
When the display panel adopts a bottom emission organic light emitting device, as shown in fig. 3, the reflective layer 3 may be disposed on the same layer as the cathode 23 of the organic light emitting device 2, in this case, the cathode 23 is not connected to the reflective layer 3, and the vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate 1 is located between the vertical projections of the two adjacent cathodes 23 on the plane of the substrate. Alternatively, as shown in fig. 10, fig. 10 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another display panel using a bottom emission organic light emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the reflective layer 3 may also be located on a side of the upper substrate 7 facing the substrate 1, where the side is opposite to the substrate 1.
Similarly, when the organic light emitting device with the bottom emission structure is adopted, the vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on the plane of the substrate base plate 1 may be set to cover the gap between the vertical projections of the two adjacent cathodes 23 on the plane of the substrate base plate in the embodiment of the present invention, so as to ensure that the light emitted by the light emitting layer 22 and emitted to the backlight side of the display panel can be reflected to the light emitting side of the display panel to the maximum extent, thereby improving the light emitting brightness of the light emitting side of the display panel and improving the display effect of the display panel.
Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 10, fig. 10 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another display panel adopting bottom-emitting organic light-emitting devices according to an embodiment of the present invention, where the reflective layer 3 is a planar structure, and a vertical projection of the reflective layer 3 on a plane of the substrate 1 covers a vertical projection of each organic light-emitting device 2 on a plane of the substrate 1, so as to ensure that light emitted by the light-emitting layer 22 and directed to a backlight side of the display panel can be maximally reflected to a light-emitting side of the display panel, thereby improving light-emitting brightness of the light-emitting side of the display panel and improving a display effect of the display panel.
In the display panel using the bottom emission organic light emitting device, as shown in fig. 10, the reflective layer 3 may be located between the upper substrate 7 and the organic light emitting device 2, or, as shown in fig. 11, fig. 11 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another display panel using the bottom emission organic light emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the reflective layer 3 may also be located on a side of the upper substrate 7 away from the organic light emitting device 2.
Illustratively, the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention further comprises a buffer layer 4. As shown in fig. 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11, in the display panel provided by the embodiment of the present invention, the buffer layer 4 is located on the backlight side of the display panel regardless of whether the display panel employs a top emission organic light emitting device or a bottom emission organic light emitting device. That is to say, in the embodiment of the present invention, the buffer layer 4 is disposed on the backlight side of the display panel, so that when the display panel is subjected to an external force during a moving or using process of the display panel, the buffer layer 4 can absorb the external stress, so as to buffer the stress of the display panel to a certain extent, thereby preventing the display panel from being affected.
Illustratively, the material of the buffer layer 4 includes a light absorbing material, as shown in fig. 2, fig. 3, fig. 4, fig. 6, fig. 8, fig. 9, fig. 10, and fig. 11, in the embodiment of the present invention, the buffer layer 4 is disposed on a side of the reflective layer 3 away from the light emitting layer 22. Therefore, the buffer layer 4 can be used for absorbing external stress, and the buffer layer 4 can be used for absorbing light rays passing through the reflecting layer 3, so that light emergence from the backlight side of the display panel is avoided, namely, the light leakage phenomenon is avoided. Optionally, the cushioning layer 4 comprises black foam.
For example, as shown in fig. 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11, the surface of the reflective layer 3 close to the organic light emitting device 2 may be a plane, so that light emitted to the reflective layer 3 is reflected by the reflective layer 3 and then propagates in a single direction, thereby preventing the light from being diffusely reflected inside the display panel, preventing the light from being attenuated after being reflected multiple times inside the display panel, and increasing the intensity of light emitted from the light emitting side of the display panel. It should be noted that in the embodiment of the present invention, the plane refers to that the surface of the reflective layer 3 close to the organic light emitting device 2 is as flat and smooth as possible, and does not contain obvious protrusions. Illustratively, the surface roughness Ra of the face of the reflective layer 3 close to the organic light emitting device 2 is <0.4 μm.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 12, fig. 12 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, wherein a plurality of protrusion structures 31 may also be disposed on a surface of the reflective layer 3 close to the organic light emitting device, and the protrusion structures also can play a role of reflecting light emitted to the backlight side of the display panel to the light emitting side of the display panel.
Illustratively, the reflectance R of the above-described reflective layer 3 satisfies 55% ≦ R ≦ 99%. The material of the reflective layer 3 includes one or more of metal, resin, plastic, and ink.
Optionally, when the reflective layer 3 is disposed in the gate insulating layer 82 formed by an organic material, or in any one of the planarization layer 83 or the pixel defining layer 84 formed by an organic material, the reflective layer 3 may be formed by any one of metal, resin, plastic, and ink, and may form a good contact effect with other film layers in the display panel, and may be disposed in the display panel more stably, and the peeling is not likely to occur. When the reflective layer 3 is disposed on the inorganic layer 81, the reflective layer 3 is made of resin material, which can form a better contact effect with the inorganic layer 81, and can be stably disposed in the display panel, and is not easy to peel off.
Alternatively, in the embodiment of the present invention, the reflective layer 3 may be formed by spraying. Thus, in the preparation process of the reflective layer 3, the thickness of the reflective layer 3 can be controlled within a reasonable range by controlling the spraying time and the concentration of the material to be sprayed, for example, as shown in fig. 6, when the reflective layer 3 is disposed on the side of the substrate base plate 1 away from the organic light emitting device 2, the thickness d1 of the reflective layer 3 satisfies 10 μm or more and d1 or more and 100 μm, so as to avoid the situation that the display panel is thick due to the excessively large thickness of the reflective layer 3, and realize the thin design of the display panel on the basis of ensuring that the reflective layer 3 can reflect the light rays emitted to the display panel.
Alternatively, when the reflective layer 3 is disposed at the same layer as an existing metal film layer in the display panel, for example, as shown in fig. 4, when the reflective layer 3 is disposed at the same layer as the gate electrode 620, the thickness d2 of the reflective layer 3 may be set to satisfyTherefore, when the reflecting layer 3 is made of the metal material, the probability of interference between the reflecting layer 3 and the existing metal wiring in the display panel can be reduced by reducing the thickness of the reflecting layer 3, and the display effect is ensured.
Fig. 13 is a schematic view of a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention, where the display device includes the display panel 100. Specifically, the specific structure of the display panel 100 has been described in detail in the above embodiments, and is not described herein again. Of course, the display device shown in fig. 13 is only a schematic illustration, and the display device may be any electronic device with a display function, such as a mobile phone, a tablet computer, a notebook computer, an electronic book, or a television.
According to the display device provided by the embodiment of the invention, the reflecting layer is arranged on one side of the light emitting layer departing from the light emitting side of the display panel, the vertical projection of the reflecting layer on the plane of the substrate base plate is arranged between the vertical projections of the two adjacent light emitting layers on the plane of the substrate base plate, namely, the reflecting layer is arranged on one side of the light emitting layer departing from the light emitting side of the display panel in the direction vertical to the substrate base plate, and at least part of the reflecting layer is arranged between the two adjacent light emitting layers in the direction parallel to the substrate base plate.
The above description is only for the purpose of illustrating the preferred embodiments of the present invention and is not to be construed as limiting the invention, and any modifications, equivalents, improvements and the like made within the spirit and principle of the present invention should be included in the scope of the present invention.
