A presente invenção refere-se a um processo e um aparelho de classificação de produtos vegetais, com base em dano aos produtos vegetais, é descrito. Um emissor de feixe emite uma luz de iluminação na direção da superfície externa de um produto vegetal. Um detector de feixe detecta substancialmente um único comprimento de onda de uma luz refletida, produzido pelo produto vegetal, responsivo à luz de iluminação. Uma unidade de controle determina pelo menos uma de presença, intensidade e gravidade de dano responsivo à luz refletida. A unidade de controle atribui uma categoria de dano ao produto vegetal, responsiva à determinação de dano."PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR DAMAGE DETECTION IN VEGETABLE PRODUCTS". The present invention relates to a process and a plant product classification apparatus based on damage to plant products is described. A beam emitter emits an illumination light towards the outer surface of a plant product. A beam detector detects substantially a single wavelength of a reflected light produced by the plant product responsive to the illumination light. A control unit determines at least one of presence, intensity and severity of damage responsive to reflected light. The control unit assigns a damage category to the crop product responsive to damage determination.
