Abstract

The laser-induced damage threshold of a series of high-power laser coatings fabricated by Balzers has been measured with a 1.064-μm Nd:YAG Q-switched laser pulse at GEC Research Laboratories, Hirst Research Centre. The results are reported elsewhere [ K. H. Guenther, et al., Appl. Opt. 23, 3743 ( 1984)]. This paper outlines the design of the laser and the particular experimental procedures undertaken with this series of tests.
