Abstract
We describe a novel Fabry-Perot MQW-index reflection modulator which may be tuned electronically. We have measured an on/off ratio of 2.0:1 for the device with an applied field of 125 kV/cm. From measurements of the device performance we estimate that the linear-electrooptic (LEO) and quadratic-electrooptic (QEO) account for 20 and 80%, respectively, of the measured modulation at a wavelength of 882 nm.
