Abstract
Over the past two years, a number of breakthroughs have occurred in the field of color-center lasers. Notable among these are the development of a new class of stable laser active color center based on oxygen-impurity stabilization, the development of new crystals which extend the presently available tuning range to below 1.24 µm and out to 4.0 µm, and the discovery of laser-active color centers in new materials.
