Route 50, Nevada.

Peter Jackson et sa femme Mary traversent le désert pour regagner New York. Soudain, Mary pousse un cri : là, sur un panneau de limitation de vitesse, quelqu'un a cloué un chat. Puis Peter aperçoit dans le rétroviseur une voiture de police, qui les dépasse et pile. Un immense flic en sort, les contraint à abandonner leur véhicule et les emmène à... Désolation, la ville la plus proche. Désolation ! Quel nom, même pour une cité minière ! Dès lors la vie de Peter et Mary tourne au cauchemar.

Pourquoi ce policier que semble ronger un mal étrange les a-t-il arrêtés ? Et où sont passés les habitants de Désolation, où les coyotes et les busards semblent régner en maîtres ? Bientôt le couple se retrouve au poste de police, avec quelques citoyens honnêtes, prisonniers eux aussi. Et l'horreur se précise... Génial metteur en scène de nos terreurs, Stephen King n'était jamais allé aussi loin dans l'exploration des zones où s'affrontent le Bien et le Mal...

Work Description

Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. Miners at the China Pit have accidentally broken into another dimension and released a horrific creature known as Tak, who takes human form by hijacking some of the town's residents. The forces of good orchestrate a confrontation between this ancient evil and a group of unsuspecting travelers who are lured to the dying town. This rag-tag band of unwilling champions is led by a young boy who speaks to God.
