Research Advisory Committee
Although over 30 years have passed since America’s Armed Forces were deployed in operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, many Veterans continue to struggle with a range of symptoms related to their military service. Continued research on Gulf War Illness remains of critical importance for improving diagnosis and treatment of 1990-91 Gulf War Veterans.
The Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses is a Congressionally mandated committee under the VA Federal Advisory Committee Act. It meets several times each year to provide advice and make recommendations to the VA Secretary on proposed research studies, plans and strategies related to understanding and treating the health consequences of military service in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the 1990-91 Gulf War.
All Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses and Veteran Engagement Session meetings are open to Veterans and their family members, physicians, scientists and members of the general public.

Where is the recording of these sessions? All the sessions offer throughout this portal are valuable. Indeed the sessions are recorded, otherwise what an extreme waste of resource time, effort and funding.
How many tired 1231 1989 however I had an active duty flights into the gulf war area during desert storm prior to 1910 Nani will lie still be considered for presumptive illnesses since I was a flight engineer and had boots on the ground during that time
I’ve been trying to reach some at the VA to get tested. Never get a return call.
sorry for the typo. The unit is JMRO-2 (Joint Medical Regulating Office-2, Manama Bahrain)
My Gulf War deployment: 08/02/1990 – 01/16/1991 Desert Shield
01/16/1991 – 02/28/1991 Desert Storm
Unit: Sub-JAMRO 2, Manama, Bahrain – US Central Command
VA evaluated me twice but denied for reasons that Bahrain is not affected, although my illness is a result of my deployment to the AOR.
Is being in Bahrain for the duration of the Gulf war still a disqualification? If so, a third application will be a waste of time.
Please advise. Thank you.
