Welcome to the Khandar Fort, an ancient gem hidden away in the heart of Rajasthan, India! Nestled on the boundary of the world-renowned Ranthambore National Park, this fort has been the witness to many historical battles and dynasties.
With three massive entrances, the Khandar Fort was built by the Kshatriya Badgujar rulers, but eventually due to internal conflicts, the Badgujars lost control and had to migrate to neighboring states. Despite this setback, the fort, located on top of a strategic hill, was never easy to attack, which is why it was considered invincible by many. The fort was also ruled by the Sisodia kings of Mewar, the Mughals for a short time, and finally the Maharajas of Jaipur in the 18th century.
The Khandar Fort also tells the story of its past through its damaged walls and gates. It’s said that the king of the fort never lost in a war, but it was attacked by Allaudin Khilji. However, with the absence of security staff and its isolated location, visiting the Khandar Fort requires caution, so it’s best to go in a group.
Most of the fort is in ruins, so unless you’re a history buff or have a love for exploring, it may not be the best destination for you. But for those who are up for the adventure, the Khandar Fort is sure to be a unique and unforgettable experience!
