This is my anime review guideline chart. Oh, allow me to say this: it is just a guideline chart. You shouldn't take this at face value. Some animes will require more in depth analysis, but please use this as a reference as to why I gave an anime its score. As for what I tend to be bias towards when it comes to ratings I would have to say characters, music, and story are probably the biggest factors that determine my overall score. What I search for in an anime isn't just a great story and characters. My ultimate goal is to experience an emotion. By emotion I mean happiness, anger (good kind of anger), sadness, warm fuzziness, etc. I watch anime for an experience, not just for entertainment (though anime is entertaining 80% of the time).
10/10= Everything was just right. The characters, story, art, music, and story progression was done [almost] perfectly. I enjoyed it to the fullest. It managed to hold me until I finished the last episode. A true display of anime at its finest, even a possible impact on my own personal life. Would highly recommend to ANY person that enjoys a good show (not just anime enthusiasts).
9/10= It was done well. It had a couple of hiccups and rough spots, but the show overall was done well. I enjoyed it, it touched my heart, and/or had an amazing cast of characters or plot. Overall a very good anime. Would recommend to other anime enthusiasts.
8/10= The anime suffered with certain characters, plot holes, or story development. The story wasn't completed (meaning there will be another season or the show was cut off) and/or it could have been better. Though overall the anime was good.
7/10= I will usually give this score out when I watched an anime that didn't have depth. For example, a show that has a lot of ecchi and comedy, but doesn't push the bar. It remains as a show for pure entertainment and isn't there for in-depth story or in-depth character development. Besides that I will still give this score out to shows that have fallen short in character and/or plot progression.
6/10= The story, plot, characters, and setting where off. It didn't flow smoothly. The execution and production of the show was hindered by mistakes and uninteresting dialogue.
5/10= Bad. Depends on the viewer, but I will be honest if I happen to find an anime series to be worthy of such a low score.
Anything below a 5 isn't worth mentioning.
