After the way things went down in season 2 I'm definitely going to read the manga, should I start from the beginning or just pick up where the anime left off? But yeah, this series was honestly a pleasant surprise for me, I came in expecting a fun agriculture show and while it is that, it's also a well-written coming of age story too that explores its themes nicely.

Not what you’d expect from the Fullmetal Alchemist author but I’ll take it lol. Very wholesome stuff, fun cast of side characters and I like how it tackles the idea of having/not having a dream for the future.

Yeah, as far as urban fantasy goes, it definitely hits the right spots even if it's a slow burner. Some people don't really like Chise and Elias's relationship but I don't really have any issue with it and liked how it was handled. S2 isn't quite as good, it loses some of the appeal, but still solid.

By the way I finished Hyouka, had a really good time with it. Tbh I may have liked it more as an SOL than a mystery, but the mystery elements served their purpose as ways of subtly developing the characters, I especially liked Oreki's progression. And of course with any Kyoani show, just absolutely beautiful and immersive in all the technical aspects too.

Glad to see you enjoyed Ancient Magus Bride, I liked it quite a bit as well and Chise is a top tier female protagonist no doubt. I'd recommend watching the Those Awaiting a Star OVA, honestly may have enjoyed that a bit more than the actual season.

It's quite solid so far, really liking the directing in particular (RIP Yasuhiro Takemoto), not expecting anything too crazy for the mystery but I'm interested to see how the characters will be explored.

alright that GIF on your profile page is kinda nice.. is it from "Aria the Origination" and is it worth watching?
Taynix Feb 13, 8:42 AM
Yeah I get what you mean lol, it's one of those anime that kinda fools with what you'd expect it to be then completely flips your expectations. The final twist at the end with his visual agnosia was executed super well, and how the story ties in all the character stories together in the climax was great. Definitely one of the better single cour anime.

Kubikiri Cycle is a pretty short, interesting mystery anime with that distinct Nisioisin/Shaft energy. Flip Flappers is one I just finished, crazy psychedelic trip coming of age story, it's a really fun time.

Saw you're watching Odd Taxi btw, let me know how you feel about the ending when you get there it's pretty wild lol.
Taynix Feb 10, 7:41 PM
Yeah I'll surely watch them sometime, just don't really feel the urge to right now since the series ended on such a perfect note.

Finished Origination and it was the perfect ending.
A little detail, I noticed the first day as Undine was mirrored

This season was the most emotionally resonant for me.

Aria was pretty good tbh, I don't really have anything new to say as it's pretty much said below me lol

Aria the Origination was by far the best one within the series. I love that it gave everybody a focus and we get to see how much they've all grown, there was never a dull moment and ended perfectly.

Thank you!

Ah sorry I wasn't clear lol, I meant the unnamed Aria episode you were referring to as being one of the best w/ Clannad AS ep 18 and Ougi Dark ending but I guess you were talking about 9 & 12/13, which I would definitely agree with being among the best.

No sappy lines allowed!

Taynix Feb 6, 8:06 AM
That pretty much encapsulates how I feel about the series, I'm so glad I got into it. I'm not sure how much I would've gotten out of it had I seen it a few years ago, but nowadays it's just the kind of show I appreciate. But yeah, those moments of character culmination towards the end as all their hard work pays off were truly wonderful, who knew an SOL could hit you in the feels like that? I agree with what you said earlier, it's one of the best ensemble casts in anime, don't think there was a single character I didn't really like, and I love how at the end while they all have to go their separate ways, they're making sure to not let their bonds with each other fall apart.

Overall just fantastic stuff, the pinnacle of SOL no doubt. (Btw you mentioned an ep being one of the best when we were talking about Clannad, which one was it? I can honestly think of multiple eps that would fit there lol)
