this episode was very complicated to me, i will try to arrange my thoughts.

first we had yuki saying he sees tohru as his mother rather than love her as a girl. it's struck me out as the author just wants to make things clear for kyou x tohru. hell, nabe even said it lol. but the more the episode flowed i understood that maybe yuki doesn't even understand his feeling either. the hall scene was example for that he's still jealous.
but still, previous episode made me pretty like yuki, so it didn't bothered me much.

but then in that hall scene he was so arrogant toward kyou, it made me angry.
and later with the stairs scene too.

only when kyou shouted at yuki it kinda helped out for me to understand that the author kinda putted her sasuke x naruto rivalry between yuki x kyou lol, kyou never had actual mother and father to see him as their son, yuki has arrogant ones that doesn't think of him, each of them have their own problems but each actually wants to be friend with each other.

damn this series is deep.

i still wants though that yuki will race to tohru's heart, though it seems hopeless lol.

oh and i like yuki and nabe bonding lol.

I can't wait to see what Kyo's relationship with Tohru's mom was!! And again, I really love the platonic love Yuki feels towards Tohru, plus Kyo's romantic love towards her <3

That confrontation between Yuki & Kyo stung even more considering all of the recent emphasis on how Yuki has felt this entire time. Yuki's soft expression after Kyo vented just broke me up. It reaffirms the immense anguish I feel when I see how much trauma & agony the Zodiac curse has put these characters through.

Time for one last breather before I take the plunge and binge straight to the end.

So Yuki really doesn't see Tohru as anything romantic. More like a motherly figure, which is sweet, but also slightly strange.

So I can definitely see Kyou and Tohru 100% getting together now.

And you can also see how Akito has interfered with how Yuki and Kyou see each other. If she hadn't interfered, the tow boys would probably have a much better relationship.

Yuki was told Kyo hated him and he believed it. He developed envy for Kyo seeing how quickly he got along with others and the 'freedom' he had. Kyo was shunned and compared to the 'perfect' rat so it made him despise/envy him. They're both victims of the Sohma family's bs and Akito's manipulation. But Yuki's managed to take more steps dealing with his inner feelings while Kyo hasn't gone that deep thus far. Yuki does seem to be trying to push him a bit tho.

Looks like Machi saying that Yuki wasn't prince-like had some type of effect on him ~.

She sees her as a mother ? hmmm.

Mixed feelings about this one. Mangaka choose to avoid a love triangle ? Then play the "i see her as a fri... as a MOM ???! " At least he could say sister or sum. But mother was unexpected.

Even tough, I guess they'll be no "frustration" by the public because there isn't a love triangle here.

Anyway fair choice. Let's see how it goes ? In the beginning of Fruit Basket, i was more expecting a Kyo x Arisa or Kyo x Kagura. But let's take this one. Girls love badboy, let's take it.
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes.
It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo.

I've always been on team Kyo. But I don't like the way they settled Yuki's feelings for her as "motherly". It just felt wrong after all that time. I would have preferred if they retained it as romantic love :(
@llolzcalai I think this is something most people expect simply because they're a girl and boy. The author just played with that.

A lot of windows have been broken right in front of the student council president without him really caring, and I find that funny. Like with most of the characters, I thought that I hated Manabe, but he has somehow won an invitation into the hallway of my heart (tho there's an equal chance of him being shown the door back out). The character drama, especially between Kyo and Yuki, is finally getting comprehensible enough for me to actually care for their character growth. Or maybe the Stockholm syndrome has finally kicked in? Who knows at this point. I completely understand Yuki's feelings for Tooru, and I will give the writer/writers a slow applause for connecting emotionally with me on a personal level for once.

This episode was essentially tying up the loose ends from the previous episode with Yuki reflecting on what’s happened to Kakeru and again Tohru definitely feels more like a mother to Yuki than his actual mother which I have to agree with him wholeheartedly and it makes sense because he has never felt love at all during his life from any of his parents whatsoever. Which again is really heartwarming to hear from my point of view but I think the big highlight of this episode was the staircase scene with him and Kyo. And hoo boy was Kyo so pissed off, so very pissed off in that scene that he smashed the window, smashed the window to pieces with his fist. And considering he’s being mocked for the vast majority of his life and he sees the play as something that people will laugh at him for, can you blame him for being like this? It’s such an important scene between the two of them and he has all this pent up anger, all this frustration with the world and the people he knows that he doesn’t know how to utilise in a sense.

And it wouldn’t be until he finds Tohru in the classroom that he has second thoughts about the play itself, he was probably thinking just then: “Oh man, I don’t want to do this stupid play but if I don’t do it I’ll probably upset Tohru if I even commit to this idea in my head so I guess I have no choice then.” And damn he was a smooth one as well in that scene. Like damn son, damn. Loved how Machi commented that Yuki wasn’t prince-like at all and then Yuki was surprised that she thought this was the case of him. I know Yuki’s other classmate just assumed Machi was being weird to him but I dunno, I have a feeling Machi is wanting to see Yuki as a person rather than what he’s perceived to be which I think is a nice change of pace for him altogether.

As well as the dramatic moments there were lighthearted moments when Tohru was trying to into the mindset of the Evil Stepsister but failing and then the council had to rewrite the play just to fit her personality. XD As well as the Kyo took her script away when she was talking to him about the play to him back at the house and then Yuki catching him doing this and then Kyo getting embarrassed it was pretty funny. Otherwise great balance of drama and lighthearted stuff, nice way to finish Yuki’s backstory.
