A Maori canoe and several men behind Wharepouri on the left. The background is Wellington Harbour, probably looking towards the entrance, with Miramar on the right, taken from the western shore, near Petone. Wharepouri, who has full facial moko, is wearing a tiki, an earring and a cloak, either of dogskin or feathers, with kaitaka border.
