I've stripped and sanded down this dark sideboard first.

Next, I applied paint wash and let it dry overnight! That part is essential if you don't want the top coat to pull the colour off. Finally, I applied three coats of my favourite top coat. I let the first coat dry overnight, even though it dries in about an hour.

HOW I DID IT:
-removed hardware and cleaned with a degreaser
-sanded to raw wood with a 120 then 220 grit and my @festool_usa sander!
-applied a tan paint wash followed by the stain “antique oak” by @generalfinishes
-topcoated it, hated it so went in with “van dyke brown” glaze by @generalfinishes to even out the color. (It worked!) topcoat again with @minwaxusa polycrylic
-painted the top black to hide the massive damage
- spray painted and rubbed gliding wax on original hardware to get the perfect antique look
